Nearly half of those parents, 47%, say the pandemic has negatively affected their kids’ mental health, with 17% saying it had a major negative impact. Mental health providers who specialize in care for kids are concentrated in urban areas but missing from rural communities. One, TeamUp for Children, has placed full-time mental health providers in seven federally qualified health centers around the Boston area. She says this model – integrating mental health services into primary care – is being copied to varying degrees in pilot projects across the country. The KFF CNN Mental Health Survey was conducted by SSRS from July 28 through August 9 among a random national sample of 2,004 adults.

The highest mortgage rates in more than 20 years coincided with one of the deadliest hurricanes on record in the United States, both contributing to a steep drop in mortgage demand. Hotel owners complain they received one email from IHG executives explaining that the attack would shut down online reservation systems. We remain focused on supporting our hotels and owners and throughout this period have communicated regular updates to owners and hotel teams,” an IHG Hotels & Resorts spokesperson said. Hotel owners said they dealt with angry customers whose reservations were lost due to the cyberattack. IHG franchisees pay monthly fees to use the company’s reservation technology, the lawsuit says.

A federal appeals court dismissed the National Rifle Association’s lawsuit against a former New York state official who urged banks and insurance companies to reconsider working with the organization and other gun rights’ groups after the Parkland school shooting. The lawsuit, first filed in 2018, alleged that Maria Vullo , then superintendent of the state’s Department of Financial Services, used her regulatory power to threaten business partners of the NRA and coerce them into not working with the organization.

Groups representing big rail shippers said Thursday’s tentative railroad-labor contract avoids potential turmoil in their supply chains and they are hoping for rapid ratification by union members to fully ease the labor tensions. “We are relieved and cautiously optimistic that this devastating nationwide rail strike has been averted,” said National Retail Federation President and Chief Executive Matthew Shay. The tentative deal must now be ratified by members of the various unions covered by the contracts. The deal, which is retroactive to 2019, includes a 14.1% wage increase upon ratification. Still, the agreement may help improve rail service in operations that have been hit by capacity and staffing shortages, he wrote.
