GOP Rep. Derrick Van Orden cursed at and berated a group of teenage Senate pages for lying down in the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday. Both Senate Minority Leader and the Senate Majority Leader admonished Van Orden for his conduct. You are defiling the space you [pieces of shit]," Van Orden reportedly told the pages late Wednesday evening, according to The Hill. It doesn't appear that Van Orden checked with his colleagues before making such a statement. After hearing about Van Orden's actions toward the Senate pages, Schumer tore into the congressman.

Washington CNN —Special counsel Jack Smith’s office has asked former US officials about a February 2020 Oval Office meeting where then-President Donald Trump praised improvements to the security of US elections, according to multiple people familiar with the matter. Those details offer a stark contrast to the voter-fraud conspiracy theories Trump began spreading publicly just weeks later and continued to use to question the 2020 election results. Investigators seemed particularly interested in understanding Trump’s mindset about election security before he embarked on a monthslong campaign to cast doubt on elections, the source added. After losing the 2020 election, Trump repeatedly made false claims that contradicted what he was told at the White House briefing about the security of voting systems. The briefing grew tense when the topic turned to Moscow’s preference for Trump over Joe Biden in the 2020 election, the sources said.

CNN —For decades, criminologists and true crime documentaries have attempted to understand what causes serial killers to commit the atrocities they do. CNN spoke with three forensic psychologists and serial killer experts to better understand what causes people to become serial killers. Scott Bonn: Not all psychopaths are serial killers, and not all serial killers are psychopaths. In the case (of a serial killer who) is a psychopath, their brain functions differently than a normal human brain. Are all serial killers serial sexual murderers?

Sen. Ron Johnson told Insider in May that he had "no intentions" of recouping old campaign loans. But before that, he'd already done so — receiving $400,000 from his campaign after raising money for it. When asked by Insider in May if he would seek to recoup any of those loans, Johnson indicated that he wouldn't. That included a total of $210,000 to repay loans he made during his 2010 campaign, and $190,000 to repay loans he made during his 2016 campaign. A portion of the loans that Johnson repaid himself on May 3rd, days before he spoke with Insider.

Such a suggestion is blasphemy — and potentially illegal — on Wall Street. But as AI tech continues to advance, one Wall Street executive is wondering if there isn't some wiggle room on those types of policies. But what really caught my eye was Friedman's comments around having to fully understand how the AI works. That's a fascinating thought exercise, and one worth having with how quick AI tech seems to be evolving these days. Wall Street is getting fed up with Amazon.

Hardline Republicans blocked Speaker McCarthy's attempt to bring bills to the floor. The move is seen as payback for McCarthy's deal with Biden last week to raise the debt ceiling. The stalemate resulted in the House adjourning until next Monday and scrapping the remainder of the week's votes. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the dissenting Republicans "team chaos, team dysfunction, and team extreme" in a press conference Thursday morning . In order to win his position as Speaker of the House, McCarthy was forced to strike a deal with Freedom Caucus members in January after 14 failed votes.

However, speaking on his former Bulls teammate Stacey King’s podcast ‘Gimme the Hot Sauce’ on Friday, Pippen described Jordan as a “horrible player.”“I’ve seen Michael Jordan play before I came to the Bulls. “Michael Jordan was the greatest to ever put on shoes and play in our game. Wisconsin lawmakers introduced a bill that would allow parents to sue teachers over "obscene" books. In April, the district suspended a teacher who played the song "Rainbowland," which is about acceptance. The first bill recommends that the state strip school employees and teachers of their protections against prosecution for "displaying obscene material," the release says.
