A five-deck superyacht seized from Russian steel tycoon Dmitry Pumpyansky has been sold. The Axioma, which had previously been valued at $75 million, sold for $37.5 million, per Reuters. The 236-foot vessel named the Axioma had been owned by steel tycoon Dmitry Pumpyansky and had an estimated value of $75 million, per Superyachtfan. It was seized after a legal request by the US investment bank JP Morgan, according to documents seen by Reuters. The seizure came after Pumpyansky defaulted on a 20.5 million euro ($19.6 million) loan payment made to one of his companies, Reuters added.

Today, we're kicking things off with my colleague Eugene Kim's look at a (secret) new team at Amazon. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is trying to fix the company's crumbling engineering culture. According to leaked documents, Amazon formed the "Amazon Software Builder Experience" group to "focus on improving the experience of software builders across Amazon." Some Amazon engineers have expressed that they're "overwhelmed" by mundane software upgrade work, manual testing and deployment, and hard-to-use developer tools. The Meta CEO announced on Instagram: "Happy to share that Max and August are getting a new baby sister next year!"

The Russia-Ukraine war triggered a crackdown on "golden passport" schemes across Europe. Malta is the only EU country with a golden passport program and is under pressure to shut it down. In recent years, countries including Bulgaria and Cyprus have shut down their golden passport programs following accusations of corruption and pressure from the European Union. The European parliament estimates that Russian nationals account for about half of approved golden passport applications in the EU. "The concern is that unsavory and possibly criminal individuals will secure EU passports, which then entitles them to mobility and settlement rights."
