Bowdring says there’s emerging evidence that nonalcoholic beverages may prime kids to switch to the real thing. Surveys of elementary, middle and high school students in Japan, where the legal drinking age is 20, found that 20% to 30% said they were drinking nonalcoholic beverages. So minors in those states can buy nonalcoholic drinks but not those with low levels of alcohol. For minors, there’s no benefit in consuming nonalcoholic drinks, and there is some evidence of potential harm, she said — which is why she thinks states need to step in to curb sales.

It also alleges that PBMs favor those high-list-price insulins even when more affordable insulins with lower list prices become available. The influential Teamsters union on Wednesday declined to issue an endorsement in the presidential race, Megan Lebowitz and Alexandra Marquez report. Prior to the announcement, the Teamsters also released survey data showing more rank-and-file members preferred to endorse Trump than Harris. WASHINGTON — Billie Jean King will become the first individual female athlete to be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey announced Tuesday that their bipartisan legislation had passed the House of Representatives and would be sent to President Joe Biden for his signature. The bill to honor King, the tennis Hall of Famer and activist, had already passed unanimously in the Senate. The medal, awarded by Congress for distinguished achievements and contributions to society, has previously been given to athletes including baseball players Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente, and golfers Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson and Arnold Palmer. King had already been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
