Net profit rose to 11.6 billion yuan ($1.63 billion) in the July-September quarter, the company said in a stock exchange filing. For the first nine months, net profit was up 18.1% to 25.2 billion yuan. With third-quarter revenue up 24% on year to 201.1 billion yuan ($28.24 billion), BYD’s quarterly revenue for the first time outpaced Tesla, whose revenue for the July-September quarter reached $25.2 billion. Tesla still beat BYD in terms of EV sales globally during July to September.

Traders in Asia will assess consumer price data out of Australia, with inflation for the quarter ended in September expected to fall to 2.9%, down from 3.8% in the previous quarter. Japan's Nikkei 225 futures pointed to a higher open for the market, with the contract in Chicago at 39,255 and its counterpart in Osaka at 39,160 compared to the index's previous close of 38,903.68. Hong Kong Hang Seng index futures were at 20,746, higher than the index's last close of 20,701.14.

The Nasdaq Composite rose to a fresh record on Tuesday as investors readied for key corporate earnings releases, including reports from notable tech names. The tech-heavy Nasdaq advanced 0.78% to a record close of 18,712.75. Ahead of their earnings releases, shares of Meta jumped 2.6%, and Alphabet advanced 1.8% on Tuesday. This will mark the busiest week of the earnings season with more than 150 S&P 500 companies scheduled to have reported by Friday’s close. Players from the Japanese American League, along with friends and family of former incarcerees, played in a tribute to the baseball teams formed at prison camps across the country during the era. “It says that they’re resilient,” he said, pointing out the baseball field, garden and school that Japanese Americans built behind barbed wire.
