The boomers had it great, the argument goes, but then they went and screwed it all up. For one thing, baby boomers didn't have it easy: The America they grew up in was poorer, less educated, less healthy, and more unfair than the society we live in today. To better understand how individuals and families are experiencing the economy, it's important to look at wages, income, and wealth. Boomers have consistently passed laws to make building housing harder, leaving the country with a structural housing deficit. Beyond the economy, the boomers have handed off other deep problems that the younger generations will have to solve.

The owner of a hot dog diner in Oklahoma enjoyed a sales boom after a sad photo of him went viral. Scott Hosek told local media that business was lagging amid the Christmas period. The diner has been busy after a customer posted a photo of him looking mournfully out his window. Hosek told USA Today that business had increased significantly since Chappel's December 20 post, reversing from a pre-Christmas customer dip. The restaurant saw an entire week's worth of sales in one day, Hosek told ABC affiliate KOCO.

Sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, is a type of alternative jet fuel that can curb carbon emissions by up to 80%. The main reason for the slow adoption is that it’s still more expensive – between 1.5 to 6 times pricier than regular jet fuel. Boeing is not out of the race either, but doesn’t see a hydrogen long-haul plane as around the corner. On medium- and long-haul flights, we don’t see it as a direct source of propulsion until 2040. We would need to see magnitude-order changes [in batteries] for us to consider those for long-haul flights.

Evan McPherson's 48-yard field goal in overtime was the difference and ended a three-game losing streak on the season and a nine-game road skid on MNF. It ended an otherwise stellar night for Lawrence, who completed 22 of 29 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Browning completed 32 of 37 passes and directed the overtime drive that set up McPherson's field goal. Beathard put the Jaguars in position for Brandon McManus’ 40-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation. “It should have been a game-winning field goal,” said Jaguars coach Doug Pederson, pointing to the 48-yarder McManus missed early in the fourth.

Tim Rogers, a sought-after New York hairstylist who fashioned gold-standard looks for a long list of notables, including Adele, Yoko Ono and Roger Federer, and commanded gold-standard prices to match, died on Nov. 3 at his home in Gaylordsville, Conn. Journalists watch a giant screen broadcasting footage of Chinese President Xi Jinping speaking at the opening ceremony of the Third Belt and Road Forum (BRF), at the media centre in Beijing, China October 18, 2023. Government data showed Malaysia welcomed 498,540 Chinese tourists in the six months to June this year, a figure almost a third of pre-pandemic levels. Malaysia's economic growth is expected to meet the government's target of 4% this year, driven in part by stronger tourism. Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has also invited China's President Xi Jinping to visit the country, Norman said. "We are hoping that President Xi will consent to visiting Malaysia," he added.

Because she was a skilled politician, her radar was set for the political center, and that’s where she always wanted the court to be. Justice O’Connor avoided such a dramatic choice. And where Justice O’Connor was on the issue is almost exactly where public opinion was, too. Federal prosecutors in the United States announced this week that they had charged an Indian national in a murder-for-hire scheme that targeted a Sikh activist in New York. The plot was foiled, they said, but it further complicated the delicate diplomatic relations between the United States, Canada and India. The U.S. prosecutors also linked the plot to a murder in Canada last June. Relations between India and Canada had soured this fall after Canadian officials accused Indian government agents of the killing. In or around May 2023American prosecutors said that, around this time, an unnamed Indian government employee recruited Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, to orchestrate the assassination of a U.S. citizen, according to the indictment.

Many millennial parents say they can't get the support they need from their parents. "If Mom and Dad ran out of town, we were at Grandma's," the 33-year-old told Business Insider. Some millennial parents feel aloneThis distance from their parents, Cox said, is a part of other shifts that have made millennial parents feel more alone. For example, a 70-minute train ride from Liverpool Street station to the town of Manningtree in Essex county is the starting point for discovering the Stour Valley scenery that inspired the painter John Constable. The approximately 3½-hour, 7½-mile trail passes through the village of Dedham, once a flourishing textile center, and where Constable attended grammar school. Depending on the season, you might see five-petal primroses in sun-dappled hedgerows, cowslips on grasslands where sheep graze, dainty white wood anemones or even orchids. On the 4-hour, 8½-mile walk from Limpsfield in Surrey (30 minutes from London Bridge station), famed for its carpet of sweet-scented bluebells in late spring, bird-watchers can listen for nightingales or spot hawks circling overhead. For Nadia Caffesse, that pain came in the form of a number of tiny needles lodged in her hands, forearms and chest. In September 2006, Mrs. Caffesse, now 45, and her family were driving through Big Bend National Park in Texas, where she found herself admiring the native blind prickly pear cactuses jutting out along the rocky roadside. She was violating a cardinal rule when visiting a national park: Take only memories and leave only footprints. “They are a poetic threat.”She knew she’d made a mistake the second she grabbed the paddle of the cactus. “The pain was instant, searing and, because of the diffuse nature of all those tiny needles, unrelenting,” Mrs. Caffesse recalled.
