London CNN —Tim Clark, the president of Emirates, has joined a chorus of airline executives in warning that Boeing is running out of time to restore its reputation following a series of safety and manufacturing blunders. I’m sure Dave Calhoun and Stan Deal are on that,” he added, referring to Boeing’s CEO and head of commercial airplanes respectively. Clark isn’t the first airline boss to criticize Boeing since part of the fuselage of a 737 Max 9 blew out mid-flight in early January. Clark said that for the first time Emirates would send its own engineers to observe the production process of the 777 at Boeing and its supplier Spirit AeroSystems. “The fact that we’re having to do that is testament to what has happened,” he told the Financial Times.

Sales fell to $744 million in the second quarter, which company executives consider its most important quarter. That amounts to a 6% decline from a year ago and a whopping 34% fall from two years ago. New York-based Peloton lost 54 cents per share in the period and hasn't posted a quarterly per-share profit in three years. Peloton enjoyed incredible sales growth during the height of the coronavirus pandemic and its share price multiplied by more than five times in 2020 amid lockdowns. Last fall, Peloton and athletic wear maker Lululemon announced a five-year partnership with the interactive fitness company, becoming the exclusive digital fitness content provider for Lululemon, which became the primary athletic apparel partner to Peloton.

TOKYO (AP) — Japanese transport officials raided a Toyota-affiliated plant Tuesday after the company admitted to cheating on engine testing, as Toyota Motor Corp. reported it sold over 11 million vehicles in 2023 to retain its status as the world’s top car manufacturer. In April, a whistleblower exposed that Daihatsu Motor Corp., which makes small cars and is 100% owned by Toyota, had been cheating on its testing for decades. In 2022, Hino Motors, a truck maker that’s also part of the Toyota group, said it had systematically falsified emissions data dating back as far as 2003. But production has been halted on some of the models, including the 10 models affected by the latest cheating. Sato has acknowledged Toyota group companies need better communication and education about the importance of complying with rules.

"Some people at Biden's and Trump's age are in a nursing home. Still, questions about the mental capacities of both Biden and Trump have been an issue in the campaign. How could they go after Trump's mental state without drawing attention to Biden's age – a factor polls show is one of his greatest vulnerabilities? Her youth and GOP membership make her a good person to challenge Trump on his mental acuity, but it's "too little, too late," he says. "The reason Trump's age has generally not been an issue is [because of] the energy around his supporters and the energy directed at him from his supporters.

Striving for perfection might seem like a positive trait, among kids and adults alike. But perfectionism doesn't make your children any more likely to become successful adults, research shows — and it's a contributing factor to mental health issues like anxiety and low self-esteem. Her advice for the parents of perfectionists: Help your kids reframe how they think about mistakes. Learning to accept mistakes and view them as learning opportunities can help keep those missteps from becoming the source of added stress or depression, she says. "A perfectionist is trying to be effective, successful [and] to do well ... You can be more confident in that desired outcome if you have opened yourself up to feedback and testing and prototyping along the way," Butler says.

Why Calvin Klein ads still get people talking

The strategy was classic Calvin Klein, a brand which has been synonymous with sexy, conversation-starting campaigns since the 1970s. Goldman Sachs on Tuesday reported its second consecutive quarter of steady profits, a return to form for the bank that has struggled with management missteps that tarnished its once untouchable reputation on Wall Street. The bank’s fourth-quarter profit of $2 billion was roughly equal to what it earned in the third quarter, but that was a sign of accomplishment. Helping the bottom line: Goldman cut 3,200 employees over the course of 2023, a 7 percent trim in its head count. Goldman’s stock rose about 2 percent , bringing the gain to roughly 10 percent gain over the past year. But shares are still lower than their 2021 peak and the bank’s full-year profit of $8.5 billion last year was the lowest since 2019.

Goldman Sachs on Tuesday posted fourth-quarter results that topped analysts' expectations on better-than-expected asset and wealth management revenue. Companywide revenue rose 7% to $11.32 billion on growth from asset and wealth management and platform solutions divisions. The growth engine for the bank, according to Solomon, is now its asset and wealth management division, which is benefiting from the rise in private credit and other alternative assets.
