The comments come after Reuters last week reported that a growing group of U.S. lawmakers are calling on the Biden administration to impose export control restrictions around RISC-V, the open-source technology overseen by the RISC-V International nonprofit foundation. RISC-V technology can be used as an ingredient to create chips for smartphones or artificial intelligence. In a blog post, Calista Redmond, chief of RISC-V International, which coordinates work among companies on the technology, said RISC-V is no different than other open technology standards like Ethernet, which helps computers on the internet talk with each other. Redmond wrote that RISC-V has drawn contributions in equal measure from North America, Europe and Asia. Crop Watch producers reported quick harvest progress in the first week of October, and soybeans were the prime beneficiary as many areas are close to wrapping up those efforts. The Dearborn, Michigan automaker said the new offer boosted wages for temporary workers, increased company 401(k) contributions and had further shrunk time needed to get to the top wage rate. UAW President Shawn Fain on Friday expanded the first-ever simultaneous strike against the Detroit Three to a GM Lansing, Michigan, plant and a Ford Chicago assembly plant, but Stellantis was spared after last-minute concessions. The UAW said on Monday it presented a new contract offer to General Motors (GM.N). Earlier Tuesday, GM said it furloughed 163 UAW workers at GM’s Toledo Propulsion Systems plant that makes transmissions for both the automaker's Missouri and Lansing Delta Township assembly plants that are on strike. On Monday, GM and Ford said they laid off another 500 workers at four Midwestern plants because of the impact of the strike.

Speaking at the Greenwich Economic Forum, Dalio said that there are irreconcilable differences between the world's two biggest economies, citing as examples the independence of Taiwan, the battle for chips and geopolitics. "U.S.-China relationship relations are in a number of areas on the brink of red lines," he told the audience of investors, adding that a war is unlikely. A China enthusiast and investor, Dalio has helped Bridgewater build a relevant hedge fund in the world's second-biggest economy. Relations between Washington and Beijing have been under increasing strain over spying allegations, human rights, China's industrial policies and U.S. export bans on advanced technologies.

While the U.S. prosecutors have said they plan to call a handful of Bankman-Fried's former inner circle to testify, Wang has not been named among them. Wang joined FTX in 2019 from rival crypto exchange Huobi as its eighth employee, and often accompanied Bankman-Fried to meetings in which Mandarin was spoken, Lewis said. In the past year, clothing retailers have sought to clear excess stock that had piled up due to a shift in consumer demand to essentials from discretionary items like clothing.
