Oct 25 (Reuters) - James Gunn and Peter Safran will be co-heads of Warner Bros Discovery's (WBD.O) DC studios, home to superheroes such as Wonder Woman and Superman, the company said on Tuesday. Both Gunn and Safran have experience with the superhero genre and have brought heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Universe to hit films and series, including "Guardians of the Galaxy", "Aquaman" and "The Suicide Squad", the company said. In a move that’s sure to make the ‘six degrees of Kevin Bacon’ game even easier, the “Footloose” star is featured in the new trailer for “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special,” alongside franchise stars Dave Bautista (Drax) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis). “Guardians” director James Gunn, who on Tuesday was appointed co-chairman and chief executive officer of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, shared the clip on his Twitter. Somehow, they decide that Bacon would be the perfect “someone special” to help their friend and appear on the iconic actor’s front doorstep to take him with them. “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” is due on Disney+ on November 25.

Oct 11 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) announced on Tuesday it will be pushing back the release dates for numerous upcoming Marvel films including, "Blade," "Fantastic Four" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." Following "Blade" director Bassam Tariq's departure from the project in September due to scheduling conflicts, Marvel has decided to temporarily shut down production of the film to search for a new director. "Blade" is now slated to premiere on Sept. 6, 2024 instead of Nov. 3, 2023, which has impacted the rest of the studios' production scheduling. The Marvel Blade character who first appeared in comic book "The Tomb of Dracula," written by Marv Wolfman in 1973 eventually had his own storyline that was later adapted into the Wesley Snipes film trilogy which includes, "Blade," "Blade II" and "Blade Trinity.”Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, stories have been intertwined and a significant delay from one film often impacts the slate for others.
