Zuck can be happy: Threads reached 100 million users faster than ChatGPT. Mark Zuckerberg had cause to celebrate over the weekend as Meta's newest app, Threads, passed the 100 million user milestone less than a week after its launch. The would-be Twitter competitor is now the fastest-growing app ever, beating ChatGPT, the generative AI chatbot that corporate America hasn't stopped talking about all year. But its leap to 100 million users had a massive jumpstart thanks to its integration with Instagram, whose billion-plus users are actively encouraged to download the new app if they fancy adding a new social-media timesuck onto their devices. ChatGPT, released to the public November 30, surpassed the 100 million user milestone in January.

Elon Musk's lawyer sent a cease and desist letter to Mark Zuckerberg over the launch of Threads. Musk claims Meta hired ex-Twitter staff to help create the "copycat" app, something Meta denies. Some former Twitter employees are at Meta. Elon Musk's Twitter is threatening to take Facebook's parent company, Meta, to court over its new rival social media app, Threads. Spiro went on in the letter to accuse Meta of hiring "dozens of former Twitter employees," some of which "improperly retained Twitter documents and electronic devices."

An alternative to the four-day workweek is attracting interest: working nine days, in every 10. A new survey found 68% of UK professionals would be keen to work for firms offering this policy. Interest in the reduced work week stems from increased demands for work-life balance and flexibility. Another alternative to traditional five-day weeks, however, is starting to gain support among both employers and employees: working nine days in every 10. Around 28% of employers surveyed have already implemented or are planning to introduce the alternative work week — 32% of which are large companies with over 1,000 employees.

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have tacitly challenged each other to a fight. Musk biographer Walter Isaacson doubts any fight will become a reality. The odds that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg fight in a cage match are nil, according to Musk's biographer Walter Isaacson. The silly talk began when Musk a couple of weeks ago said he would fight Zuckerberg, who has recently gotten very into jiu-jitsu. Isaacson pointed to Threads, the Twitter-like app Zuckerberg is set to launch, as another element of the rivalry between the two.

Threads, Meta's app designed to compete with Twitter, has now appeared on the App Store. Meta's chief product officer previously said users were looking for a "sanely run" platform. Elon Musk fired that jibe back at Meta over its long list of users' data Threads will collect. Elon Musk returned a Meta executive's jibe back at the company as its Twitter competition app Threads, nears release. "Thank goodness they're so sanely run," Musk said of Meta this week, apparently sarcastically, in response to the news.

OpenAI's buzz has a lot of tech workers eager to join the generative AI company. "Other than them I can't think of any other prominent company adopting this model at this scale," Musa said. Signing bonuses are very rare; there is no target performance bonus; and there is also little to no room for negotiation on compensation, Musa and another person familiar with the company said. All of those things are standard with other tech companies, from startups to Big Tech firms like Meta, Google, and Microsoft.
