Opinion | How Should I Be Using A.I. Right Now?

There’s something of a paradox that has defined my experience with artificial intelligence in this particular moment. So I wanted to understand what I’m missing and get some tips for how I could incorporate A.I. This conversation covers the basics, including which chatbot to choose and techniques for how to get the most useful results. But the conversation goes far beyond that, too — to some of the strange, delightful and slightly unnerving ways that A.I. responds to us, and how you’ll get more out of any chatbot if you think of it as a relationship rather than a tool.

"So Bixby has been a key voice assistants voice assistant for Samsung not just for the mobile devices, but also for TVs and digital appliances that exist in Samsung's ecosystem. So it has been the core voice assistant assistant so far," Won-joon Choi, executive vice president at Samsung's mobile business, told CNBC in an interview last month. Choi did not give a timeline when Bixby may get generative AI features, but said that Samsung is "working so hard" to deliver them. Samsung's focus on the technology comes at a time when investors are scrutinizing what Apple will deliver when it comes to generative AI. Apple announced it would hold its annual developers conference, WWDC, in June, when the company is largely expected to talk up some AI features across its products.

Shortly after the opening bell, we will be selling 265 shares of Disney at roughly $122.60. Given the more-than-50% run Disney shares have had from their October 2023 lows, we think it is prudent to trim and move our rating down to a 2, meaning wait for a pullback before buying more. We're also paring back our position in Google parent Alphabet now that the stock has recovered from its fourth-quarter earnings pullback . ChatGPT, OpenAI's artificial-intelligence chatbot, has set relatively high expectations for customers who are now trying out Microsoft Copilot tools for the first time. Feedback for the tool has been mixed to leaning positive so far, according to the Microsoft employees who spoke with BI. But Microsoft employees told BI the comparisons with ChatGPT kept coming up. Advertisement'Work' Copilot vs. 'web' CopilotA source of customer confusion is that there's a "work" version of Copilot for Microsoft 365 and a "web" version of the tool. For instance, a Microsoft customer may use the web version of Copilot to search publicly available information about a client.

Databricks, a cloud-based data software company, launched a new AI model on Wednesday — and the company says it's faster, cheaper, and more efficient than its larger competitors. The model, called DBRX, comes at a time of fierce competition in the generative AI field. DBRX, available as open source, is the culmination of the company's $1.3 billion purchase of AI startup MosaicML last July, as many of its staffers helped build DBRX. Also, the entire DBRX model has 132 billion parameters, the company said. Ghodsi told BI that a team at Databricks was responsible for filtering copyrighted material from the data used to train DBRX.

Read previewA group of AI researchers recently found that for as little as $60, a malicious actor could tamper with the datasets generative AI tools similar to ChatGPT rely on to provide accurate answers. Tramèr and a team of AI researchers then posed the question in a paper published in February on arXiv, a research paper platform hosted by Cornell University: Could someone deliberately "poison" the data an AI model is trained on? The team then monitored how often researchers downloaded from the datasets that contained domains Tramèr and his colleagues owned. as the site is a "very prime component of the training sets" for language models, Tramèr said. AdvertisementTramer also adds that data poisoning isn't even necessary at the moment due to the existing flaws of AI models.

The company is now developing digital humans that can “listen” to people’s questions and converse in real time. Search versus SGESince December, Business Insider has plugged the same queries into Google's traditional search engine and its generative AI version to see how information is presented differently. Mark Mahaney, a top internet analyst at ISI Evercore, has been testing SGE alongside generative AI rivals like Perplexity and OpenAI's ChatGPT. Ray has spotted answers in SGE results that are not sourced from websites that rank in the top 100 positions for that query in traditional Search results. Neither query produced any sort of generative AI response — although a search for "common cold" did. They've already got billions of people using Chrome and using Google search," Shmulik told BI.

The Department of Homeland Security has seen the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence firsthand. It found a trafficking victim years later using an A.I. But it has also been tricked into investigations by deep fake images created by A.I. Now, the department is becoming the first federal agency to embrace the technology with a plan to incorporate generative A.I. “One cannot ignore it,” Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said in an interview.

The 25-year-old's mission is to help clients make more money using large language models. Now, I run a consultancy that tries to help companies grow using AI — and business has been booming. Most projects use AI models from leading LLM providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cohere. My main advice for businesses interested in adopting AI is to familiarize yourself with large language models and how they could be used to address specific pain points. After that, collect as much data as possible — from meeting recordings to marketing materials — that can be used to fine-tune the AI models.
