Netflix's password-sharing crackdown and ad tier are starting to pay off, and over time they can provide a revenue boost. Netflix's robust global content machine should also help it ensure subscribers still see plenty of fresh content during the strike, at least for the near term. Analysts will be looking for more color from Netflix on how subscribers are responding to the password-sharing crackdown and ad tier. And if the strike drags on, Netflix will be impacted at some point by the dearth of new content. Analysts will be waiting to hear if and how Netflix plans to change its content strategy accordingly.

Some of the people on strike are also picketing the Netflix offices in Los Angeles. Netflix's international production capabilities are a "huge differentiator", and a lot of their content comes from countries that are not involved in the strike, analysts at SVB MoffettNathanson, Credit Suisse and Insider Intelligence said. Netflix is expected to have added a net 1.77 million subscribers, according to Refinitiv, in what is typically a weak quarter due to school holidays. The company lost nearly 1 million subscribers in the year-ago period. The second quarter also featured some strong programming from Netflix, including hits like "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" and "Never Have I Ever Season 4".

It was one of a twin set of spacecraft designed to take images of Mars, and the first one failed. Dan Goods/NASA/JPL-CaltechThe transmission was incredibly slow by today’s standards, given that the Perseverance rover regularly sends back batches of high-resolution images from Mars. Together, they revealed craters on the Martian surface and clouds floating above in the atmosphere, both of which surprised scientists. The highest-resolution Mariner 4 image (right) revealed the cratered Martian surface from 7,830 miles (12,601 kilometers) above. JPL/NASAThe snapshots showed less than 1% of the Martian surface, missing the more diverse features on the planet’s surface that later missions such as Viking 1 would capture.

Netflix dropped its "Basic" ad-free $9.99 a month membership plan in Canada at the end of June. There are signs the streaming giant will sunset its "Basic" plan in the US as well. The removal of the "Basic" plan may signal Netflix's move to boost sign-ups for its ad-tier. There are also signs that the streaming giant may be sunsetting its "basic" membership plan for new US customers. Only time will tell whether Netflix's removal of its 'Basic' plan will leave a lasting impact on the streaming giant's bottom line.

Career experts say this behavior can hinder the chances of a promotion. Humblebragging refers to making a seemingly self-deprecating comment that actually draws attention to something you're proud of. "I'm so tired today from playing all that golf with the boss at his club's Pro-Am yesterday," Lindsey Pollak, a career expert and author told Fox Business as an example of this behavior. Career experts have often encouraged workers – especially women and minorities – to talk up their achievements to advance their careers and get promotions. Some experts say this is partly because American work culture places value on being loud and visible.

Russian jamming seems to be affecting Ukraine's communications and US-provided weapons, experts say. "The problem may well be the sheer power of the jamming signal that can be brought to bear," Withington said. "Moreover, the closer the GPS receiver is to the R-330Zh's jamming antenna, the stronger the jamming signal becomes." Russia's counter-GPS efforts are part of a massive electronic-warfare campaign that has also disrupted Ukrainian radio communications and drone operations. John Moore/Getty ImagesAccording to the RUSI report, Russian EW troops are also "highly capable" at intercepting and decrypting Ukrainian radio communications.

June 22 (Reuters) - A group of buyers including Fortress Investment Group may take over Vice Media after the consortium's $225-million offer for the bankrupt company emerged as the only "qualified" bid on the table, according to a legal filing. Popular with millennial audience through its websites Vice and Motherboard, Vice Media filed for bankruptcy protection last month in a move that capped years of financial difficulties and top-executive departures. GoDigital Media told Reuters in an emailed statement that it made a higher bid for Vice but the offer was turned down by the sellers. "We think Fortress's decision is the wrong choice, and the company, employees, partners and consumers will suffer," GoDigital said. Fortress and Vice did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment on the potential deal, which must be approved by the bankruptcy judge.

Hong Kong’s humidity – already oppressive – was intensified in the dark, maze-like alleyways of an unruly enclave known as Kowloon Walled City. Greg Girard, courtesy of Blue Lotus GalleryA ‘strange, vertical village’Girard first visited Kowloon Walled City in 1986 while on a shoot at the nearby airport. As such, the Walled City remained technically subject to Chinese rule, though this was never enforced. The site of the Walled City has since been transformed into a public park, which opened in 1995. Ongoing interest in the Walled City is, Girard suggests, because of the spirit it encapsulates: the aptitude for survival even in the harshest of circumstances.

Netflix's password-sharing crackdown has had a solid start in the US, according to new data. You might not like it, but Netflix's password-sharing crackdown is off to a great start in the US, according to new data. The change was meant to stop the proverbial ex-boyfriend's cousin's friend from continuing to watch someone's Netflix account. Antenna said average sign-ups to Netflix reached 73,000 during that period, a 102% increase from the prior 60-day average. Cancellations also increased, though not as much as sign-ups, Antenna said, adding that the ratio of sign-ups to cancellations was up 25.6% versus the prior 60-day period.

The streaming service has seen a bigger jump in new subscriber sign-ups as a result of the crackdown than it did in the early days of the Covid pandemic. In the following days, Netflix has seen a more than 100% increase in sign-ups from the prior 60-day average. For years, Netflix turned a blind eye to password sharing because it was fueling growth. But the streamer suffered heavy subscriber losses last year, and said that password sharing hurt its revenues and therefore limited its ability to invest in new content. The company started to clamp down on password sharing in several countries earlier this year, including Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain.

The Netflix crackdown on password sharing is in its early days in the U.S., but it appears to be having the effect the streamer was looking for – a boost to its subscriber base. In 2022, Netflix began to see subscriber growth stagnate, and, like other media companies, it began homing in on ways to make boost revenue. In addition to cracking down on password sharing, Netflix also introduced a cheaper, ad-supported tier. Netflix began rolling out password-sharing guidance in international markets earlier this year. It had delayed its crackdown on password sharing in the U.S. from the first quarter to the second quarter.

June 9 (Reuters) - Daily U.S. sign-ups for Netflix (NFLX.O) have jumped in the first few days after the streaming giant's password-sharing crackdown came into effect on May 23, data from research firm Antenna showed. Netflix had estimated that more than a 100 million households had supplied their log-in credentials to people outside their homes. Under the new rules, U.S. users can add a member outside of their homes for an additional fee of $8 per month. Its calculations seem to have paid off as the company recorded nearly 100,000 daily sign-ups on both May 26 and May 27, according to Antenna. Netflix, which has expanded its crackdown to more than 100 other countries, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Stealth aircraft, such as the F-22 Raptor or the F-35 Lightning II 5th generation jets are equipped with Luneburg (or Luneberg) lenses: radar reflectors used to make the LO (Low Observable) aircraft (consciously) visible to radars. In fact, tactical fighter-sized stealth aircraft are built to defeat radar operating at specific frequencies; usually high-frequency bands as C, X, Ku and S band where the radar accuracy is higher (in fact, the higher the frequency, the better is the accuracy of the radar system). However, once the frequency wavelength exceeds a certain threshold and causes a resonant effect, LO aircraft become increasingly detectable. For instance, ATC radars, that operate at lower-frequency bands are theoretically able to detect a tactical fighter-sized stealth plane whose shape features parts that can cause resonance. F-35s deployed abroad usually feature their typical four radar reflectors: to exaggerate their real RCS (Radar Cross Section) and negate the enemy the ability to collect any detail about their LO "signature".
