The average price for a house in the Hamptons hit a record $3 million in the first quarter, highlighting a shortage of trophy beach homes for sale and the resilience of wealthy buyers. The average sales price in the New York beach community jumped 18% in the first quarter to $3.1 million, according to a report from Douglas Elliman and Miller Samuel. The average price in the Hamptons is now more than $1 million higher than the average sales price in Manhattan. The high end of the Hamptons market is the strongest. In the luxury market — representing the top 10% of sales — both the median and average sales price broke records during the first quarter, with the average luxury price surging 33% to $16.1 million, according to Jonathan Miller, CEO of Miller Samuel.
The trip is the first big test for Kendall and Roman, who spend the first part of this episode scrutinizing emails and complaining about keeping the numbers straight across five Waystar divisions. Gerri though, on the plane ride over, encourages her people not to be so worried about these smug Swedes. Matsson pledged to buy Waystar Royco (minus ATN) for $144 a share. In a private meeting with Matsson, Kendall casts a steely eye on him and remains unfazed even when the flighty tech billionaire makes a snide comment about Waystar’s sliding stock price. So ends Round 1 of this negotiation, with Matsson slightly ahead, if only because he asked for something Kendall and Roman were not prepared to give.
While in Israel, DeSantis will also keynote an event hosted by The Jerusalem Post and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem. The trip will spotlight DeSantis’ foreign policy credentials as he inches toward a White House bid. DeSantis’ predecessor, now-US Sen. Rick Scott, embarked on more than a dozen trade missions during his tenure as governor. Eleven Florida Republicans have endorsed Trump over DeSantis so far – including seven last week. State lawmakers have also balked at a provision in DeSantis’ immigration package that would eliminate in-state tuition for undocumented residents.

The two-year-old chihuahua, who measures around the same length as a dollar bill, has been named the world’s shortest dog by Guinness World Records. Born in Florida on September 1 2020, Pearl is shorter than a Popsicle stick at just 3.59 inches tall. Pearl is related to previous record holder Miracle Milly, who measured 3.8 inches tall. Pearl’s mother is one of Milly’s identical sisters, according to Guinness World Records. Guinness World RecordsPearl was recently unveiled on “Lo Show Dei Record,” Guinness’ TV talent show in Italy.
The bill would restrict funding and protections for healthcare providers that offer gender-affirming care to trans patients. "I thought the worst they would do is restrict gender-affirming care," Amanda said. This would prohibit universities or health insurance plans for government workers from using public funds to provide gender-affirming care. In February, the Board of Medicine expanded on the restrictions and banned gender-affirming care for minors, including in clinical trials. In a previous story about SB 254, representatives for DeSantis declined to comment on SB 254 until it makes its way to the Governor's desk.
In recent weeks authorities made it harder for same-sex couples to be legal parents and lawmakers proposed an anti-surrogacy law widely seen as targeting gay couples. In January, the government issued orders that municipalities stop the registration of most children with same-sex parents, complicating access to schooling and medical services. Rainbow Families, a group representing same-sex parents in Italy, says its members are parents to around 1,500 children, but that this underestimates the national total. In some places, already-registered children of same-sex families are now being erased from the records, upon the initiative of prosecutors. In similar cases previously, judges have routinely ruled against same-sex parents.
UBS Credit Suisse rescue is messy but unstoppable

LONDON, April 3 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Very few people seem to want UBS (UBSG.S) and Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) to merge, but it’s unlikely that anyone will stop it. Switzerland’s Federal Prosecutor has opened an investigation into the state-arranged deal, the office of the attorney general said on Sunday. Credit Suisse’s share price is just 3% below the level where it should be based on the deal terms. A Credit Suisse 2033 bond , which could be converted to equity and potentially wiped out in a resolution, trades with a 6.4% yield, compared with 13% before the rescue. The lower return implies a high likelihood that it will be absorbed by UBS through the merger.

Summary This content was produced in Russia, where the law restricts coverage of Russian military operations in Ukraine. "I don’t think anything will happen, if you mean a nuclear threat," said Andrey, 47, who declined to give his surname, standing under one of the billboards, at the entrance to Moscow's Gorky Park on Tuesday. "No, those warnings don’t scare me and don’t change my attitude towards the world, people and our president," said Yulia Gorodnyanskaya, 38. Our potential is very high and I'm more than confident in our army and the weaponry our country has. No country in the world has as many weapons as us, and such well-made weapons."
Netanyahu, who is on trial on graft charges that he denies, says the overhaul will balance out the branches of government. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, a Likud lawmaker, broke ranks on Saturday by publicly urging Netanyahu to suspend legislation for a month. Gallant's statement was welcomed by senior Likud lawmaker David Bitan. But it was not clear if they or others in Likud might abstain in a ratification vote. But a pro-reform Likud lawmaker, Tally Gotliv, sounded unfazed.

The 19-year-old Spaniard, ranked second in the world, became the youngest number one ever after his U.S. Open win in September. "I know if I win tomorrow I'm going to be the number one. That's all I'm going to think about tomorrow." Russian Medvedev, a former world number one, earned a 7-5 7-6(4) win over Frances Tiafoe to extend his winning run to 19 matches. Medvedev said his second-round win over Alcaraz at Wimbledon in 2021 - the only prior meeting between the two - was no gauge for their showdown on Sunday.
Whether the collapse of one of the largest banks in the country leaves you freaked out or unfazed, this is a good moment to take stock. Silicon Valley Bank’s collapse, the second-largest bank failure in American history, shows how quickly a seemingly solid institution can go bust. Anxiety about the industry’s finances has since spread with many regional and European banks now under pressure.
Tech-savvy Gen Zers don't seem too hyped about the latest foldable phones. But this age group, born between 1997 and 2015, appears unfazed by the latest foldable phones. Over the past few years, flip phones have had a glow-up. Advertisements of the latest flip phones regularly flash up on television, flood the billboards in public places, and appear in pop-up stores in malls for passersby to play with. Foldable phones are late to the partyThey've been around for nearly 30 years, but flip phones have "missed the boat" in the mass market, Atwal said.

While analysts have been predicting a weaker dollar 12 months out for over five years, their predictions only came true in 2020 when the currency weakened more than 6.5%. There was also no clear consensus among analysts in the poll over dollar positioning, which turned net short dollar last November. Among the remaining 18, a dozen forecast a reversal to net long positions and six predicted an increase in net short positions. Even the British pound , which dropped more than 10% last year, was expected to claw back around half of those losses in 12 months. Sterling was predicted to rise from its latest level of $1.19 to $1.22, $1.23 and $1.26 in the next three, six and 12 months, respectively.
Nikki Haley was one of the few 2024 GOP presidential contenders to deliver a speech at CPAC. As she exited the conference following her speech, CPAC attendees began chanting Trump's name. And she was one of the few potential presidential contenders to attend CPAC amid allegations of sexual assault against Matt Schlapp, the chief organizer of the conference. But after her speech, as Haley walked through the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, she was met with loud chants of "Trump! Even as she's become the first to explicitly challenge Trump for the nomination, Haley has largely avoided directly criticizing the former president.
Rystad Energy sees the global market deficit of lithium shrinking to around 20,000 to 30,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) this year, from 76,000 tonnes LCE in 2022. MINERS UNFAZEDThe decline in lithium prices in China, the world's biggest consumer, has hit lithium producers overseas. LITHIUM CARBONATE SINKSThe price decline has been sharp. Ashok Swain Uppsala UniversityHindenburg's report has further sharpened the focus on the billionaire mogul's close ties with Modi. After Modi became prime minister, Adani continued to benefit from the relationship but on a much larger scale, said Swain. In his address to parliament last week, the prime minister seemed unfazed by the opposition's criticism and made no mention of Adani. "And you can never breach this safety shield with the weapons of abuse and lies," he said, as opposition lawmakers chanted "Adani, Adani." "Prime Minister Modi and I are from the same state.
Gen. Mark Milley said Russia has "lost" in Ukraine as the war approaches the one-year mark. The top US general ripped into Moscow for launching an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, emphasizing that Russia has paid an "enormous price on the battlefield" as a consequence. In short, Russia has lost — they've lost strategically, operationally, and tactically," Milley added. But Russian forces failed in that objective as Ukrainian troops put up a far stiffer resistance than expected. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has warned that Putin is unfazed by the high rate of casualties and is vying to overwhelm Ukrainian forces with sheer numbers.
watch nowThe world's biggest drone maker DJI found itself embroiled in the Russia-Ukraine conflict last year. It includes the Mavic 3 drone, and Aeroscope, a drone-detection platform that enables users to identify the location of a drone operator. We've stated unequivocally that we have had nothing to do with treatment of Uighurs in Xinjiang," Welsh said. A drone's firmware is what the drone uses to control all the important operations, like flight, battery management and data protection. Paolo Stagno, a cyber security expert, said there is a black market of modified DJI drones' firmware.
McCarthy previously said that Republicans would behave during the address. Biden's comments on a range of issues — everything from the national debt to fentanyl overdoses — prompted boos and loud yelling from Republicans. The president appeared to be largely unfazed by the GOP's unorthodox behavior, at times directly responding to their jeers. Biden ultimately got Republicans to stand up and applaud in support of both programs, and declared there was "unanimity" on the matter. The raucous behavior of a number of congressional Republicans came after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy insisted that members of his caucus behave during the address.

On Tuesday, the Adani group appeared to have fought back the attack by the New York-based short-seller Hindenburg and rallied investors behind the $2.5 billion share issue of flagship firm Adani Enterprises (ADEL.NS). It was a rare defeat for a man who has seemed unstoppable in recent years. In recent years, the $220 billion Adani Group empire has attracted foreign investment - France's TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA), for example, partnered with Adani last year to develop the world's biggest green hydrogen ecosystem. On Wednesday, Adani said his company felt it wasn't "morally correct" to proceed with the share sale following the volatility in the market. But he said in a statement to the exchange the company was financial stable and that the withdrawal of the share issue will not impact its future plans.
