CNN —A European spacecraft and two shoebox-size satellites are about to launch to survey the aftermath from NASA’s DART mission, which intentionally slammed into an asteroid named Dimorphos and altered its orbit two years ago. The European Space Agency’s Hera mission is expected to lift off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 10:52 a.m. The spacecraft and its two CubeSat companions are slated to arrive at the asteroid Dimorphos, and the larger asteroid it orbits named Didymos, in late 2026. NASA planned the DART, or Double Asteroid Redirection Test, mission to carry out a full-scale assessment of asteroid deflection technology on behalf of planetary defense. But many questions remain, including whether the DART spacecraft merely left behind a crater or if its momentum completely reshaped Dimorphos.

At just 24, Lo Rosso didn’t appreciate that the signature in the upper left corner of the artwork that read simply “Picasso” meant anything, his son Andrea Lo Rosso told CNN on Tuesday. The older Lo Rosso, who died in 2021, stuck it in a cheap frame and gave it to his wife — much to her chagrin, his son said. For many with allergies, fall is peak season that’s now probably compounded by a warming planet. Allergy season is starting earlier and lasting longer, which scientists attribute to a variety of causes, including the climate crisis. With respiratory viruses also prevalent in colder weather, how can people distinguish between seasonal allergies and a virus? Common symptoms of fall allergies can include a runny or stuffy nose as well as sniffling, sneezing, watery eyes and coughing. Ragweed season typically begins in August and peaks in September but can last into November.

Angel Mitchell was in knots Friday morning at the eastern Tennessee hospital where her 83-year-old mother had been admitted days earlier for pneumonia. People evacuate Unicoi County Hospital due to unusually high and rising water from the Nolichucky River. Mitchell said her mother was fastened to a gurney and hoisted up, then taken to another hospital. During that last hour, a panic attack set in as she thought about her mother. Mitchell said she's grateful everyone at the hospital survived, but on Monday, her mother received another devastating diagnosis — that she has colon cancer.

CNN —Two days after the LaLiga match between Atlético Madrid and local rivals Real Madrid, Atlético announced defender Robin Le Normand suffered a “traumatic brain injury” when he collided with Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni late in Sunday’s 1-1 draw. Tchouaméni connected with the ball just before he and Le Normand inadvertently clashed heads. Le Normand, a regular in Atlético’s defense and a Spanish international, fell straight to the ground and immediately writhed in pain.
