[1/7] Farmer Wang Zhanling sits next to his wife in their house in Quansheng village, Heilongjiang Province, China, February 8, 2023. The state-run Chinese Academy of Sciences sees the pension system running out of money by 2035. "If the pension system does not change, this is unsustainable," said Xiujian Peng, senior research fellow in the Centre of Policy Studies at Victoria University in Australia. The province has the lowest birth rate in China, with just over 100,000 births in 2021 and 460,000 deaths. Many experts, including Macquarie's chief China economist Larry Hu, suggest implementing a unified national pension system, backstopped by the more resourceful central government rather than cash-strapped local administrations.

For anyone who has had a string of bad dates you know how overwhelming consecutive disappointment can be. Mark Leary PsychologistFeeling bad makes you a "normal human being," Leary says, but fixating on your rejections can lead to some long-term consequences. "Even if it's just a one time rejection, if you think it's you, your self esteem will go down," Leary says. Instead of bitterly bowing out of specific experiences, you can learn how to cope with repeated rejection in a way that helps build confidence, not diminish it. "Sometimes right after rejection or repeated rejection we are immediately trying to soothe ourselves with another person," she says.

"A solid day of work has about 2-3 hours of real productive focus," one user wrote. A viral TikTok explaining the "real work flex" to strategically pass time while doing little work prompted others to make their own videos giving a play-by-play of their days at the office before COVID-19 caused a boom in remote work. "They won't tell you this, but the real work flex isn't grinding for 80 hours a week. The real work flex is time theft," TikToker Daniel Ezra said in the video. “Laziness is like, ‘I have absolutely no desire to even think about this.’ Procrastination is, ‘It troubles me to think about this. “It can leave people feeling very defeated and feeling like there’s no point in trying.”Knowing why you procrastinate can make you self-aware, but you still need strategies to break the habit. Happy New Year, or, if you’re in business, unhappy new tax year. American employers are getting hit in 2023 with a variety of tax increases even as the risk of recession rises along with interest rates. The tax hikes arrive for two reasons: provisions of the 2017 GOP tax reform that are phasing out, and big tax increases that passed as part of the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act. The Biden Administration doesn’t want to tell you this, so we thought we’d list the unmentionables:

It’s that time of year, when newspaper columnists put out their Best of the Year lists. Lists are a Get Out of Town gimmick for columnists to bank material before going on a holiday ski vacation. The sad truth is I wrote this list this morning, to avoid doing the rest of last night’s dishes from Christmas dinner. I’m not saying it’s a perfect list. You’re on a holiday ski vacation.

Images showed a tall plume of tiny drops of toilet water being blasted into the air. Scientists have known for some time that tiny, invisible drops of water escape the toilet bowl after each flush. A cloud of smaller drops, called aerosols, floats further through the air, carrying the toilet water across the lab. A side-by-side view of the effect shows that these water drops are invisible to the naked eye. But the evidence doesn't show definitively that toilet water spritzing into the air has caused anyone to get sick.
Successful people don't believe in scarcity, they believe in abundance. You don't want to bother them and you're scared they won't want to help, so you decide not to contact them.
