The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution says it will release 1986 footage of the Titanic on Wednesday. Saturday was the 25th anniversary of James Cameron's "Titanic" based on the tragic ocean liner. The 80-minute uncut and unnarrated video, which will be uploaded by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to WHOI's YouTube channel at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, captures some never-before-seen images of the ocean liner that sank, killing about 1,500 in April 1912, according to AP News. One Titanic historian hobbyist told Insider, "The Titanic is such a phenomenon that any new information you can get from it is instantly intriguing.
The footage from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) was shot about 2 miles (3 km) below the ocean's surface, just months after explorers found the wreckage in 1985. Since the discovery, several documentaries about the Titanic have showed footage of the wreckage scene. During 11 dives in July 1986, footage was shot by cameras on a human-occupied submersible and a small remotely operated vessel that maneuvered through tight spaces. The unveiling of the footage has been timed with the re-release of director James Cameron's 1997 film "Titanic" on its 25th anniversary. "By releasing this footage, WHOI is helping tell an important part of a story that spans generations and circles the globe."

Feb 12 (Reuters) - Southampton parted ways with manager Nathan Jones on Sunday after the Welshman won just one Premier League game during his three-month tenure to leave the south-coast club rooted at the bottom of the standings. Jones is the second Saints manager to lose his job this season after the former Luton Town boss was appointed in November as Ralph Hasenhuettl's replacement a few days before the World Cup break. "Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with men's first team manager Nathan Jones. First team coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club," the club said in a statement. Southampton said first team lead coach Ruben Selles will take charge of training and prepare the squad for next Saturday's game against Chelsea.
Brighton, who have not lost this year, were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace. An eight-point advantage in the table beckoned for Mikel Arteta's side but they never looked comfortable against an enterprising Brentford who should have been ahead by halftime. The visitors got their deserved point through Ivan Toney, who pounced in the 72nd minute to head in Christian Norgaard's cross. Only Harry Kane has netted more away goals in the Premier League this season than the Brentford striker. SORRY SPURSWith manager Antonio Conte back in the dugout after missing their win against Manchester City last Sunday following gallbladder surgery, Spurs made a good start at Leicester.

Jan 30 (Reuters) - Non-league Wrexham could face a dream tie at home to eight-time winners Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fifth round if they can get past Sheffield United in a replay, while Manchester City will travel to Championship (second-tier) side Bristol City. Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with visiting Sheffield United on Sunday. The National League (fifth-tier) leaders were only denied a famous victory over the Championship side by a 95th-minute equaliser, forcing a replay scheduled for next month. Manchester United were handed a home tie against third-tier Derby County or fellow top-flight side West Ham United, who meet later on Monday. Brighton & Hove Albion, who knocked out holders Liverpool, will visit Championship side Stoke City.

Lampard was appointed by Everton in January 2022 after he managed Chelsea from 2019-2021 and Derby County in the second tier in 2018-19. The 44-year-old was sacked as Chelsea manager in January 2021, having returned to the west London club where he holds the goalscoring record. He took over at Everton after the Merseyside club parted ways with Rafa Benitez, continuing the managerial revolving door at a club struggling to revive former glories. Everton next host leaders Arsenal on Feb. 4 followed by the Merseyside derby at Liverpool on Feb. 13.

LONDON, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Jarrod Bowen scored twice as West Ham United beat fellow strugglers Everton 2-0 at the London Stadium on Saturday, taking all three points in a match billed as a "must-win" for both teams. West Ham climb out of the relegation zone and into 15th place in the table with 18 points from their 20 games, while Everton are one place off the bottom on goal difference alone with 15 points from the same number of matches. Bowen scored his goals in a seven-minute first half spell, first netting from close range after Emerson Palmieri’s cross was flicked into his path. West Ham sat back after the break, looking to absorb the pressure from the visitors and hit them with swift counterattacks. West Ham are next in action in the FA Cup fourth round when they travel to Derby County on Jan. 30, while Everton host leaders Arsenal in the Premier League on Feb. 4.
All three sides are nine points off the top four, with Chelsea having played 20 games to Liverpool and Brentford's 19 apiece. Chelsea are now without a win in their last six league games on the road, their longest comparable run in the competition since September-December 2015. "We defended in the second half with passion and clear organisation, but we were too deep in these moments. Everton offered little in attack, with away supporters again calling for the club's board to resign throughout the clash. They have collected just 15 points from their 20 league this season -- their fewest points won after 20 games of any league campaign in their history.

Premier League talking points

Jan 15 (Reuters) - Talking points from the latest round of Premier League games:RAMSDALE PROVES HIS WORTH TO KEEP GUNNERS ON TRACKGoalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has had his critics at Arsenal but the 24-year-old proved his worth in the league leaders' 2-0 victory at rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, making a string of fine saves to keep Spurs at bay. "We showed the other face when we had to dig in, we needed some big moments from Aaron," coach Mikel Arteta said. Manchester United's dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over rivals Manchester City on Saturday was not without its fair share of controversy. Rashford was deemed not to have interfered and the goal stood, before the in-form England forward went on to score the winner. "I understand he (Rashford) doesn't touch the ball but he's running for 30 metres until the last second.
England forward Rashford completed the turnaround eight minutes from time to score for the seventh successive match in all competitions, the first United player to do so since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. City were furious the goal was awarded after a VAR review, with Rashford initially flagged offside before letting Fernandes take the shot ahead of him. We'll celebrate a big win but from tomorrow our focus has to be on the next game." Brighton picked up their first home league victory against Liverpool since January 1961 as they climbed above their opponents into seventh. The same players played outstanding football matches before but if things aren't properly organised then it can look like that.
Arsenal lead the standings on 44 points after 17 games, five ahead of second-placed City. United are fourth on 35 points while Tottenham, who have played one game more, are fifth on 33. Since being thrashed 6-3 by City on Oct. 2, United have won 15 out of 18 matches in all competitions while losing only once, while they are on a run of eight consecutive victories. Their resurgence has been led by in-form striker Marcus Rashford, who has scored seven goals in his last six matches, and midfielder Casemiro. It’s the team around the team," Ten Hag told radio station Talksport this week.

MANCHESTER, England, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Everton manager Frank Lampard said his future at the club was out of his control after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United following a 3-1 defeat on Friday. It's for me to focus on what I saw tonight and that was a performance that every manager wants with the attitude of the team, and the focus," Lampard told ITV. I don't want to talk about my future, I only want to talk about the players and how well they played." Everton had a goal ruled out for offside after a VAR review before a late Marcus Rashford penalty sealed their fate. The 9,000 visiting supporters largely applauded their team off the pitch after the FA Cup defeat, and Lampard said their reaction showed his side could still turn their fortunes around.
A cruise passenger had "the worst Christmas Day" of her life on board P&O Cruises' Iona. Another Iona passenger said the "Christmas party spirit" had gone when she was eventually seated. Margaret Hardcastle, another passenger on the Iona, told Insider that restaurant reservations "played no bearing in what we were given." By the time Hardcastle was seated, she said "the Christmas party spirit had gone for everybody. The problems come after passengers on another P&O cruise ship, the Arvia, said Christmas Day was an "absolute disaster," with some waiting until 11 p.m. to have dinner.
Passengers on a cruise liner's first voyage said their Christmas Day was "an absolute disaster." They told The Times they'd booked a table for Christmas dinner, but the reservation was lost. The Wheatleys booked a table for Christmas dinner last month, but were told on Christmas Day that their reservation could not be found. "On Christmas Day we were quite lucky. A P&O spokesperson told The Times that IT and connectivity problems "caused dining issues and restaurant delays for a proportion of guests on Christmas Day.
ARSENAL BEGIN WHERE THEY LEFT OFFWhen Mikel Arteta's table toppers went behind early on against struggling West Ham United there were mutterings around the Emirates Stadium -- with fans perhaps fearing Arsenal's pre-break momentum had been lost. TOTTENHAM CONTINUE TO PUZZLETottenham's inability to show consistency, even throughout 90 minutes, was evident again in a 2-2 draw at Brentford. But, as so often this season, they showed that when in a self-inflicted hole, they can actually look like a good side. West Ham United look a shadow of the side that were so impressive last season and a fourth straight defeat heaped more pressure on manager David Moyes. Like West Ham, Everton are just above the drop zone but a home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers was ominous and manager Frank Lampard will need positive results quickly to silence his critics.
