But improved price action this week suggests Freeport-McMoRan, Inc. (FCX) may be poised for further upside into the fourth quarter. So with a bearish momentum reading at the May peak, then a bullish momentum reading at the August and September lows, FCX was primed for an upside breakout. The breakout in March 2024, leading to the May peak, suggested a new uptrend as the price exited this basing pattern. The stock gapped higher on Tuesday, pushing above short-term resistance around $46 as well as a trendline using the May and July highs. The stock did become overbought this week, with the RSI popping just above the 70 level on the recent breakout.

Read previewIt's official: The labor market vibes are not great. It's the largest tumble in sentiment since August 2021 — and workers' experiences with and expectations for the labor market are partially to blame. A weaker jobs market — although one that's still historically strong — is warping Americans' beliefs about the economy. Even so, though, it'll take a little while for new monetary policy to trickle into daily life and the labor market. Are you having trouble finding a job, or is the job market making you feel bad?

CNN —Despite pledging a “battle without limits” against Israel, Hezbollah’s response to back-to-back Israeli attacks appears to have been carefully calibrated. Hezbollah joined the fight against Israel out of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza after Hamas’ October 7 attacks against Israel. Israel accused Hezbollah of firing the rocket, which came from the direction of Lebanon, but Hezbollah has “firmly” denied it was behind the strike. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began to pivot from fighting Hamas in Gaza to Hezbollah in Lebanon, backed by bellicose allies on his extreme right. This week, another airstrike killed Ibrahim Qubaisi, another senior official who commanded Hezbollah’s missile units.

Fresh consumer confidence data on Tuesday indicated that Americans are feeling pessimistic about the US economy and future of the job market. JPMorgan Chase researchers said in a note on Monday that they expect the yellow metal to continue running toward their 2025 target price of $2,850 an ounce as the Fed brings down rates. Silver, another precious metal that tends to move in tandem with gold, has jumped roughly 34% this year, outperforming the yellow metal. New moves from China to revive its economy also has the potential to lift precious metals, said Rhind.
