One of the sport's biggest boosters is Steve Kuhn, a former hedge fund manager who founded Major League Pickleball. "I think there was a time when pickleball was considered a sport that was not really a sport. The billionaire, who lives in Austin, has gotten the pro league off the ground by growing the business with sponsorships, media deals and expansion teams. Major League Pickleball teams today are going for as much as $10 million. Professional Pickleball can be seen on almost every major television network and many streamers.

More news jobs have already been cut this year than in all of 2022 and 2021, per a firm that tracks layoffs. Industry experts explain the three media trends that could replace traditional sports journalism. Wiacek said that the 18- to 30-year-old demographic is key for traditional media organizations, yet the hardest to reach. "The more traditional media outlets are trying to find ways of attracting that audience," Wiacek said. Hanlon said team communications are essential for growing leagues like the NWSL that can't wait around for classic media coverage to pour in, especially in local markets.

4, right in the middle of the pickleball hive, there was a man by himself who seemed to be in some distress. But really, he was a man who needed to use the bathroom. He was about to serve against a wall to himself when a young blond woman approached. He would have loved an opponent, sure, but what he really needed was somebody to hold the court while he ran to the men’s room. He knew that the moment he stepped away, some pickleballer would set up a net in his space.

It may seem counterintuitive, but the pandemic was like a brief visit to Shangri-La for Wall Street. For the first time in years, Wall Street has to sing for its supper. A return to the office also means a return to more-classic Wall Street social norms. Wall Street, for all its highfalutin personalities and big paydays, is an apprenticeship system. For Wall Street, the heart of the pandemic was a moment to consider what life would be like at a slower, more-nurturing pace.

While the natural inclination is to cheer a strong jobs market, investors are responding with a boo and bailing out of risk assets. The thinking goes like this: If people are at work and the labor market is stronger than expected, the ability of the consumer to absorb higher prices is also greater than previously thought. If the ability to absorb higher prices is greater than expected, above target (2%) inflation can last longer than estimated, regardless of the current fed funds rate. If the current fed funds rate isn't stopping hiring and consumers' ability to absorb higher prices, the rate simply isn't high enough. Energy is tough: We really need China's reopening to pick up as demand will be the key to higher energy prices.
