Singh said political mobilization over loss and damage funding makes COP27 the most important COP yet.

CNN —The pressure for 18-year-old actor Kit Connor to come out had been building on social media for months. It is one of the first to center LGBTQ characters — both Nick and Charlie, as well as others in the main cast — geared towards a teen and young adult audience. Rob Youngson/NetflixThe truth about Nelson’s character, as well as Connor’s real-life identity, may be much more nuanced. "I felt there was something left in me to build a zero-to-one startup," said Sukemasa Kabayama, the co-founder and CEO of Uplift Labs. The opportunity to work for not just one but two tech giants was "very rewarding" for Sukemasa Kabayama. I was thinking, it would be much more exciting to really build something from scratch, from the ground up. Musk also responded with "absolutely" to a tweet calling for top content creators on Twitter to be compensated similarly to other social media platforms.
On Friday, the IMF said its executive board approved Kyiv's request for $1.3 billion in emergency funding through a Rapid Financing Instrument. This is on top of $1.4 billion the IMF has provided to Ukraine since the start of the war. Former central bank governor Kyrylo Shevchenko said in July that Kyiv hoped for a $15-$20 billion IMF programme before year-end. On Friday, IMF staff said talks with Ghana's government about a potential loan programme had been constructive but more work was needed on a debt-sustainability analysis. EGYPTA major grain importer that depends heavily on tourism revenue, Egypt has experienced a double whammy from COVID-19 and soaring food prices with no current IMF programme in place.

Yardi"If this doesn't clear the market, then I don't know what does," Marcus said of her multifamily properties, which she described as large and relatively new. Andrew Holm, a cohead of US investments at Ares, the owner of more than $50 billion in commercial real estate, is hunkered down for the long haul, however. At the Bisnow event, he was so bearish on commercial real estate that he struggled to name a single sector that might be attractive over the next six months.

Disney is expected to snare $30 million in ticket sales globally from its theatrical re-release of 2009's "Avatar." While domestic ticket sales, which will reach $10 million, according to projections, are in-line with analysts' projections, it's the international tally of $20 million that has box office analysts buzzing. "Avatar: The Way of Water," the first of four sequels to the original film, is slated for release in December. There's clearly still audience interest for "Avatar," box office analysts agreed after seeing Sunday's projected figures. However, it's still up in the air as to whether that interest will translate to ticket sales in December, particularly for 3D showings.
They are timed to coincide with global leaders meeting in New York City at the U.N. General Assembly this week. REUTERS/Brendan McDermid Read More'DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES'Irreparable damage caused by climate change has heightened developing countries' demands for "Loss & Damage" compensation at COP27 in Egypt in November. "The Least Developed Countries are bearing the brunt of the devastating consequences of climate change," Senegal's environment minister Abdou Karim Sall told a meeting in Dakar last week. The United States and 27-country European Union have historically resisted steps that could require rich nations to pay compensation for causing climate change. Malpass later clarified he was not a climate change denier, after facing a flurry of calls to resign.
Bringing the highest-grossing film of all time back to theaters has two purposes for Disney: drum up excitement for "The Way of Water" and fill a vacant spot on the theatrical calendar. The rerelease of the original film is a sort of litmus test for whether audiences still want to visit its eco-conscious science fiction world. But it never captured the cultural relevance that Star Wars or the Marvel Cinematic Universe – both also owned by Disney – have enjoyed. "Avatar" captivated audiences more than a decade ago, in part because of the technology that Cameron helped develop to film and animate the movie. Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, "Avatar: The Way of Water" tells the story of the Sully family.
