☆ American Airlines flight attendants reach new contract deal

Reuters —American Airlines’ 28,000 flight attendants have reached a tentative labor agreement with the company, their union said on Friday. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents the flight attendants, said the deal addresses their concerns about compensation, work rules and retroactive pay. Reached after more than three years of negotiations, the tentative agreement will be sent to the union’s board for review. Last month, the airline offered flight attendants a new contract with an immediate 17% wage increase and higher profit sharing in 2024, which the union rejected. American’s flight attendants had authorized their union to call a strike if there wasn’t a deal.

The crowds inside the hall in downtown Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention this week reflected the mood of the party: unified, abundant, exhilarated. Cash shorting, which occurs when depositors move funds form lower-paying accounts to high-yield ones, plagued Schwab last year, according to Barron's. But Bettinger suggested that cash shorting is not a significant issue. As an investment advisor, Bettinger said Schwab ensures that their clients' cash goes into a high-yielding money market fund. At Thursday's close, Schwab shares were down more than 17% for the week so far.

"You just need to get over the hump, a hump that periodically scares people out of this whole asset class." Cramer said he always encourages investors take profits on winners when they can, otherwise it's possible to "get obliterated." And owning losers can feel more difficult than owning winners because it's more obvious why the latter might be on the decline, he added. Cramer said the arguments against these stocks are "for real," but similar to what has been said about them for years.

After First Horizon posted an earnings miss Wednesday morning, the regional bank's CEO Bryan Jordan told CNBC's Jim Cramer there is stiff competition in the industry that could continue for the rest of the year. It tends to be very aggressive for money market and CD deposit rates," Jordan said. "We see a lot of specials in the marketplace, and what we experienced this quarter was a little bit of a shift in what we'd seen in previous quarters." Jordan continued, saying this competition "drove a little bit of an increase in costs," as First Horizon matched rates for customers, raising the cost of deposits. "I think when those two questions get resolved, the economy ought to star to accelerate, loan demand ought to pick up a little bit," he said.
