Microsoft will purchase the carbon-free energy produced from it to power its data centers to support artificial intelligence. Clean energy advocates and businesses alike are looking towards nuclear energy as a source of zero-carbon power that is a reliable baseload source. Three Mile Island, located near Harrisburg, is best known for being the most serious accident at a commercial nuclear power plant in US history when it experienced the partial meltdown of one of its two reactors. Demand for energy is expected to surge as tech giants need more sources of power to fuel their AI needs, especially nuclear power, which is carbon-free and helps them maintain their lofty climate goals.
