Delta has hired high-profile attorney David Boies’ law firm to seek damages from cyber security firm CrowdStrike and Microsoft for the massive service issues it suffered last week following a badly flawed software update caused problems in a key computer program. The hiring of the firm of Boies Schiller Flexner, first reported by CNBC, was confirmed to CNN by a person familiar with the decision. Delta’s costs could total between $325 million to $475 million, according to a note published Tuesday by Savanthi Syth, airline analyst for Raymond James. Boies and his firm won $290 million in 2023 from JPMorgan Chase for Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse victims.

In a recent poll from Ipsos, 71% of Americans surveyed said they had some sort of rewards, points, or cash-back card, and 80% of those with such a card said they valued their rewards. In the 1960s, many public pools were filled with concrete or destroyed to avoid allowing Black Americans to swim in them. In fact, park managers opted to shut down the Historic Audubon Park Natatorium in New Orleans, the largest public pool in the South, rather than see it integrated. Black children ages 10-14 years drown in swimming pools at a rate that is almost 8 times higher than White children. Third places are incredibly important for public health and wellbeing however because they give people a place to socialize and build community. We also need better national data about our public pool system that goes beyond project- or funding-specific tracking.

Many will stay in the French capital's tens of thousands of hotel rooms, but many others are opting for short-term rentals, including Airbnbs. There are 44% more short-term rentals listed in Paris than there were last summer, according to AirDNA, a collector of industry data. The French capital had the fastest-growing short-term rental market in the EU over the last year, according to Lighthouse, a firm that analyzes the hotel market. National lawmakers are also poised to raise taxes on income from short-term rentals as a way to encourage homeowners to rent out their properties long-term. Airbnb, which dominates the short-term rental market in France, has leveraged the Olympics to expand its roster of hosts and guests in France.
