Then union members will get additional $4-per-hour raises every year during the life of the six-year tentative deal. The union had been willing to consider the $4-an-hour deal before the strike, union boss Harold Daggett said on the picket line outside the Port of New York and New Jersey early Tuesday, soon after the start of the strike. Thursday’s deal likely is the end of the strike, but it doesn’t close the door on a new strike in the future. Should the members vote against the deal, the strike might start once again. But union members voted nearly unanimously to reject it and have remained on strike since September 13.

And they’ve kept up a drumbeat of dubious claims about voting, along with the lie that the election was stolen in 2020. Prosecutors allege that the Trump campaign used similarly aggressive tactics in Philadelphia to force confrontation with election officials, which Trump and his allies used to claim his supporters were denied access to observe the count. Election officials have been operating in an increasingly hostile environment as GOP skepticism of election administration has climbed. Among them: shifting numbers of noncitizens Trump allies claimed had voted in the 2020 election. When Jyoti Bansal made "the hardest decision" of his career — selling his software startup AppDynamics for billions — he did it with his employees in mind. As the startup's founder and chairman, Bansal would've become wealthy either way — but only one of his two options guaranteed the same for many of his staffers, he says. Upon Bansal's acceptance of the offer, roughly 400 AppDynamics employees saw their shares of the company rise in value to at least $1 million, a spokesperson for Bansal says. Today, he's the CEO and co-founder of two other software startups, Traceable and Harness, the latter of which was most recently valued at $3.7 billion in 2022. At least 70 of the company's 80 employees became millionaires on paper when VeriSign's stock soared two years later, Chaudhry said.

While not identifying any specific or credible threats to the United States, the advisory comes ahead of Monday’s anniversary of the October 7th attack in Israel and calls by foreign terrorist groups for violence against the West, the agencies said. The advisory also comes as Israel carries out deadly strikes against Hezbollah headquarters in Lebanon, and as it weighs a response to Iran’s recent ballistic missile attack. The New York Police Department increased patrols on Monday, a law enforcement source told CNN. The agencies assessed that foreign terrorist organizations will likely continue to “exploit narratives” surrounding hostilities involving Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, in order to incite lone attackers toward violence in the US. So-called “lone wolves,” who are not formally part of a terror group, present an especially serious challenge to law enforcement, security sources have previously told CNN.
