Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will have a third shot at Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. That sets up a third playoff meeting against the Chiefs (12-6) in four seasons. A year later, the Chiefs beat the Bills 42-36 in overtime in the divisional round. Buffalo turned its season around at Kansas City in Week 14. In the last Bills-Chiefs playoff meeting, Mahomes rallied Kansas City to a tying field goal in regulation after Buffalo took a 36-33 lead with 13 seconds remaining.

Taylor Swift made another game day appearance Saturday to cheer on Travis Kelce. AdvertisementThe regular NFL season may have come to a close, but football continues to trend partly due to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's romance. Taylor Swift rocked a custom-made jacket that paid homage to her beau Travis Kelce. Like many of Swift's recent fashion choices, fans online pointed out that Swift's jacket featured her beau's jersey number and last name. "Sometimes our online store lights up after a Chiefs game when we win, but this is 100 times more than that, and we lost the game.

Plunging temperatures have put much of the country in a deep freeze this holiday weekend, combining with snow, freezing rain, ice or gusty winds in some places to endanger nearly 100 million people from Northern California to coastal Maine. Forecasters said hundreds of records gauging the cold could be broken this week, as frigid air gripped a huge swath of the nation, including southern cities like Dallas, Memphis and Little Rock, Ark. Other places braced for sleet or snow, with Buffalo, N.Y., expecting up to two feet of snow. While some people hunkered down indoors, stocking up on food and firewood, others braved the cold to attend events for the Iowa caucuses, cheer on their favorite teams at the Chiefs-Dolphins N.F.L. playoff game or go skiing, among other activities.

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Saturday night's AFC wild-card playoff game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs on Peacock set a record for the most-watched event on a streaming service. According to Nielsen, the Chiefs' 26-7 victory in frigid temperatures averaged 23 million viewers on Peacock, NFL+ and on NBC affiliates in Kansas City and Miami. Last year’s first-round playoff game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars averaged 20.61 million viewers. Judging by the audience, Saturday's game is unlikely to be the last playoff matchup shown on a streaming service. Under the NFL’s contract, each of its four broadcast partners — NBC, CBS, Fox and ESPN/ABC — gets at least one wild-card game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had his helmet shattered on a hit from Miami Dolphins safety DeShon Elliott during Saturday night's frigid AFC wild-card playoff game. With a game-time temperature of minus-4 degrees Fahrenheit, the game was the fourth-coldest in NFL history, and it was unclear whether the temperature made the shell of Mahomes' helmet more brittle than usual. But then again, rarely is it below zero at kickoff of a football game. Mahomes ran two more plays before officials made him get a backup helmet from the sideline.

"It is absolutely ridiculous that my constituents, who already pay for NBC, have to pay even more to watch this game," Ryan wrote in a letter to top NFL and NBC officials. I'm demanding the NFL and NBC stop the BS and offer fans the service they already pay for, or we're coming for your antitrust exemption." "Fans already face exorbitant prices to watch every game during the regular season; they don't deserve to be squeezed even further by greedy corporations," Ryan added. The league added that all the remaining playoff games would be available over the air nationwide, as well as on other platforms. NBC Sports reportedly pays the league more than $2 billion a year for its slice of NFL games.

You won't see this weekend's Kansas City Chiefs-Miami Dolphins NFL playoff game on broadcast TV. It's a big change — and a test for Comcast: How many people will actually subscribe to a streamer to watch the NFL? AdvertisementThat's because last year, NBCUniversal paid the NFL $110 million for the rights to a streaming-only playoff game. (One exception: In 2015, cable channel ESPN aired a single playoff game.) At a press call with reporters earlier this week, NFL distribution executive Hans Schroeder wouldn't commit to whether the league would do more streaming-only playoff games next year: "This is a deal for this year, but it's an NFL playoff game.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play at home against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night in what are likely to be “dangerously cold temperatures,” but your sympathies should probably be directed toward the visiting team. A wind-chill warning will be in effect across the region from Friday night through Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. That’s where you get into trouble. We’re not having a snowball fight.”The highest temperature in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon will be 5 degrees, according to the forecast, though that could change before kickoff at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Finally Souza, an innkeeper and community leader in Bela Vista do Jaraqui, said he rallied two dozen neighbors to drill a 60-meter well in the heart of the world's largest freshwater basin. With rivers forming the backbone of transportation across the Amazon region, the drought has disrupted access to food and medicine in dozens of cities. The Amazon, the world's largest rainforest, is regarded by scientists as a bulwark against climate change because its dense vegetation absorbs carbon and emits oxygen. The five researchers predicting a 2026 recovery said the effects of the drought could endure even longer if El Nino is prolonged. That would release huge amounts of carbon dioxide, contributing to climate change and wiping out a wealth of plant and animal species found only in the Amazon.

AdvertisementLike humans, whales and dolphins typically shed their skin continuously, and most of them have no problem doing this in warmer waters. The study found that some antarctic killer whales make an essentially nonstop, nearly 7,000-mile migration to warmer waters that takes six to eight weeks. While the reasons whales migrate remain a mystery, the study argued the evidence suggests "deferred skin molt could be the main driver of long-distance migration for antarctic killer whales."
