BEIJING — China's parliament will hold a highly anticipated meeting Nov. 4 to 8, state media said Friday, according to a CNBC translation. Investors have been awaiting news of the gathering of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, which is expected to announce details on any fiscal stimulus. Last year, the committee's meeting in late October oversaw a rare increase in China's fiscal deficit to 3.8%, from 3%, which was subsequently reported by state media. He pointed out that the last month of Chinese stimulus measures have all underscored the need for more fiscal support. Analysts have tempered expectations that large-scale fiscal stimulus would directly pillar consumption, instead noting how struggling local governments would likely get support first.

Robert Roberson, 57, was set to become the first person in the U.S. executed in a "shaken baby" case until members of the state House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee issued a subpoena to have him testify at a legislative hearing this week. TKO Group , the company that owns WWE and UFC, is expanding into sports-adjacent properties by acquiring three businesses for $3.25 billion from its controlling owner, Endeavor Group . The businesses are Professional Bull Riders, On Location, and IMG, the companies announced Thursday. The deal is all stock, and Endeavor's ownership in TKO will increase from 53% to 59%. While the company does acquire a new league in PBR, the world's largest bull riding league, it also is expanding into luxury hospitality with On Location and media rights consultancy through IMG. “South Carolina is a great state. Or would a more fitting tribute to Smalls be to recognize the statesman who served in the South Carolina House and Senate and the U.S. House after the Civil War? That’s how Republican Rep. Chip Campsen, an occasional ship pilot himself, sees honoring one of his favorite South Carolinians. While South Carolina has a monument with multiple panels honoring the struggle of African Americans from their journey on slave ships through today, it doesn’t honor an individual Black man or women among the two dozen monuments scattered around the Statehouse. I think it is important that we tell that the right way to honor him and to honor south Carolina.
