Some Brazilian users reconnected with X on Wednesday despite the Supreme Court's recent nationwide ban, the result of the social network apparently changing the way its servers are accessed. That rendered X effectively inaccessible in the country until Wednesday, with AP journalists among those who had access. It acts as a proxy between users and X's servers, filtering traffic and preventing the original Internet Protocol (IP) address from being recognized, Diogenes told The Associated Press. Former president Jair Bolsonaro celebrated the return of the social network. Some Brazilian X users trumpeted the platform's return — with several addressing de Moraes directly, vowing that they weren't using a VPN.

GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen agreed to pay a nearly $1 million penalty to settle the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's claim that he failed to report acquisition of more than $100 million worth of Wells Fargo & Co voting shares, the agency said on Wednesday. Cohen failed to notify the agency as required when he amassed shares above the $100 million threshold in 2018, the agency said. He had not purchased the shares solely as an investor, but had given bank management input into how to run its business and sought a board seat, according to the FTC. He ultimately reported the transactions to the FTC in 2021. An attorney for Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The super PAC, Future Coalition PAC, also ran other ads that highlight the Jewish faith of Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, including ads that have leaned on antisemitic “dual loyalty” tropes about Jewish Americans. The first two clips used in the new Harris ad come from Harris’ remarks after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in July, four days after President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t seek another term in office. The majority of the nine ZIP codes in the Harris ad campaign are represented by Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib in Congress. The Harris campaign did not comment on its ad strategy. WASHINGTON — Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., renewed his criticism of drugmaker Novo Nordisk on Tuesday, claiming that the CEOs of major generic pharmaceutical companies have told him that they can produce and sell its blockbuster diabetes drug Ozempic for less than $100 a month. During Tuesday's roundtable, Sanders said his recent conversations with generic drugmakers revealed that Novo Nordisk's pricing is "nothing less than excess corporate greed." “They have studied the math, and they tell me that they can sell a generic version of Ozempic, the exact same drug that Novo Nordisk is manufacturing, to Americans for less than $100 a month," Sanders said. Sanders’ office declined to say which generic drug companies told him that they could sell Ozempic at a fraction of what Novo Nordisk charges. A federal judge Monday rejected an effort by former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to move his Arizona indictment to federal court in a case focused on efforts to overturn Donald Trump's 2020 electoral defeat. U.S. District Judge John J. Tuchi said that Meadows missed a deadline to file his request and "has failed to show good cause that might permit the Court to excuse the untimeliness." An attorney for Meadows did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday night. In April, a state grand jury in Arizona indicted Meadows and two other former Trump aides — Rudy Giuliani and Boris Epshteyn — and several so-called “fake electors” over efforts to overturn Trump's election loss in the state in 2020. Meadows previously lost an attempt to move his Georgia indictment to federal court in a similar case.

Apple is in discussions with JPMorgan Chase for the bank to take over the tech giant's flagship credit card program from Goldman Sachs , a person with knowledge of the negotiations said. But the move shows the extent to which Apple's choices were limited when Goldman Sachs decided to pivot from its ill-fated retail banking strategy. There are only a few card issuers in the U.S. with the scale and appetite to take over the Apple Card program, which had saddled Goldman with losses and regulatory scrutiny. JPMorgan is the country's biggest credit card issuer by purchase volume, according to the Nilson Report, an industry newsletter. Apple and JPMorgan declined to comment on the negotiations, which were reported earlier by the Wall Street Journal.

New York CNN —United Auto Workers union President Shawn Fain said Tuesday the union plans to hold strike authorization votes against Stellantis because the automaker is failing to live up to guarantees it made in the 2023 labor deal it reached with the union at the conclusion of a six-week strike. It is possible, since only some locals will be holding strike authorization votes, that only some plants will be struck. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Tuesday proposed a new rule forcing banks to keep detailed records for customers of fintech apps after the failure of tech firm Synapse resulted in thousands of Americans being locked out of their accounts. That's what happened in the Synapse collapse, which impacted more than 100,000 users of fintech apps including Yotta and Juno. Customers with funds in these "for benefit of" accounts have been unable to access their money since May. Keeping better records would allow the FDIC to quickly pay depositors in the event of a bank failure by helping to satisfy conditions needed for "pass-through insurance," FDIC officials said Tuesday in a briefing. While FDIC insurance doesn't get paid out in the event the fintech provider fails, like in the Synapse situation, enhanced records would help a bankruptcy court determine who is owed what, the officials added.

CNN could not geolocate the image, but has verified it was published Tuesday, the same day as the explosions.
