Building backyard tiny homes can be expensive. There are three states that will help with the cost, by providing homeowners with grant money. These backyard homes, called accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, are small housing units that homeowners can build on their property. In California, where most backyard homes are being built, ADU building permits cost anywhere from $450 to $15,000 — even before construction starts, according to Backyard Unlimited, a company that builds ADUs. Insider reached out to all 50 states to learn which pay homeowners to build ADUs.

Palo Alto, California-based STG is a mid-market private equity firm focused on technology investments. Earlier this year, STG struck a deal to take Momentive Global Inc, the parent company of SurveyMonkey, private in a $1.5 billion deal. STG currently manages about $10 billion of assets and has invested in more than 50 companies in the technology industry. NEW YORK, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Symphony Technology Group (STG) and Francisco Partners are among the private equity firms competing to acquire media editing software maker Avid Technology Inc (AVID.O), according to people familiar with the matter. Avid, Goldman and Francisco Partners declined to comment. Palo Alto-based STG is a mid-market private equity firm focused on technology investments. Francisco Partners is a prolific tech investor, which has raised over $45 billion to date. German grocer Lidl opened its first US stores in 2017. It closed 11 underperforming stores this week, according to various news reports. Lidl, whose US headquarters are in Virginia, closed 11 stores recently in North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, South Carolina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, the Daily Mail first reported. In Vermont, where flooding was expected to intensify throughout the day, officials said about 20 people so far had been rescued by boat, with another two dozen evacuated from homes. And at least one person, a woman in her 30s, died in the flooding in New York’s Hudson Valley, the authorities said. The downpour was generating flash flooding in five counties across northern Vermont, where up to three inches of rain have fallen so far, the Weather Service said. The community land trust model was largely used in rural communities until the 1980s, when Cincinnati became the first city to have a land trust operate in an urban neighborhood. In 1984, Senator Sanders, who was then the mayor of Burlington, created one to help address his city’s housing crisis. In 2020, the East Harlem El Barrio community land trust bought four apartment buildings that had fallen into disrepair from the city for one dollar each. Oracle’s database software is used by major banks and corporations to track transactions. On Wednesday, Oracle said that the database will now also run on chips made based on a technological architecture from Arm Ltd, the same underlying technology that is in mobile phones. Ellison said Ampere’s chips are much more power efficient than offerings from its other two major chip suppliers, Advanced Micro Devices and Nvidia. News reports said information from more than 700,000 Calpers members and retirees was taken. The MOVEit software is widely-used by organisations around the world to share sensitive data. Genworth Financial was harder hit, saying personal information of nearly 2.5 million to 2.7 million of its customers was breached. SAN FRANCISCO, June 1 (Reuters) - Hackers have stolen data from the systems of a number of users of the popular file transfer tool MOVEit Transfer, U.S. security researchers said on Thursday, one day after the maker of the software disclosed that a security flaw had been discovered. Software maker Progress Software Corp (PRGS.O), after disclosing the vulnerability on Wednesday, said it could lead to potential unauthorized access into users' systems. The managed file transfer software made by the Burlington, Massachusetts-based company allows organizations to transfer files and data between business partners and customers. Such "zero-day," or previously unknown, vulnerabilities in managed file transfer solutions have led to data theft, leaks, extortion and victim-shaming in the past, Mandiant said. Pitt did not have a comment on who might have been trying to steal data by exploiting the flaw.
