A week and a half after a highway shooting spree and an ensuing manhunt for an “armed and dangerous” suspect, officials in Kentucky have located a body near where the shooting happened. Kentucky State Police troopers are working to confirm the identity of the body discovered in Laurel County, officials said Wednesday. Laurel County Sheriff's OfficeThe gun used, an AR-15 rifle, was purchased legally in London the day of the shooting, authorities said. Law enforcement officials said the gunman parked near a ridge overlooking the highway to fire upon vehicles. The Teamsters on Wednesday declined to endorse a candidate for president, the first time in decades that the union hasn't backed a candidate in the presidential election. It found that almost 60% of rank-and-file union members preferred to endorse Trump, while 34% backed Harris, according to an electronic member poll. Clean energy and clean vehicle companies added nearly 150,000 new jobs in 2023, the first full year of the Inflation Reduction Act, the report found. Of that total, the South added more than 54,000 clean energy jobs, accounting for 36% of all new jobs in the region. By comparison, the Midwest, Northeast and West combined added 95,000 clean energy jobs in 2023. The employment sectors analyzed in E2’s “Clean Jobs America” report include clean vehicles, renewable energy, battery storage, grid modernization and biofuels. Accused sex trafficker Sean "Diddy" Combs was set to return to a New York City courtroom on Wednesday afternoon, where his lawyers will again push for bail and pre-trial freedom from "horrific" jail conditions. Combs came to New York City to surrender to government agents before his arrest, defense lawyers said. Furthermore, Combs said he shouldn't be subjected to rough conditions at a federal lockup in New York City, citing murders and suicides that have occurred in that jail in recent years. At least five game show contestants were "shamelessly exploited" and subjected to "unreasonable, unsafe" working conditions on Amazon Prime's "Beast Games,” a California civil action said this week. "Beast Games" has been billed as a reality competition program with $5 million in prize money, according to Amazon which acquired streaming rights to the show. "Defendant production companies and Amazon shamelessly exploited the labor of approximately (redacted) people who served as contestants," according to lawyers representing the plaintiffs. The 50-page complaint also redacted details of how plaintiffs allegedly suffered and broadly suggested that work conditions were unsuitable. There was also "insufficient medical staff to attend to potential and actual injuries during" production, lawyers for the contestants said.

More device explosions were reported across Lebanon on Wednesday, a day after pagers belonging to Hezbollah members detonated across the country, killing at least 12 people and injuring nearly 3,000, state media reported. According to Lebanon's National News Agency, or NNA, "a number" of wounded people had been taken to hospitals in the southern suburbs of Beirut after their wireless pagers exploded. At least three people were killed in device explosions Wednesday, NNA reported. Al-Manar, a Hezbollah-affiliated news agency, reported that wireless devices exploded in people’s hands across the country. The Associated Press reported that its own journalists were in Beirut at a funeral for four people killed by exploding pagers the day before when they heard "multiple explosions at the site."

Passengers said a pressurization issue on a Delta Air Lines flight Sunday left them with bloody noses and ears. A spokesperson for the airline company said that Flight 1203 from Salt Lake City to Portland, Oregon, was unable to pressurize above 10,000 feet. Passenger Jaci Purser told NBC affiliate KSL-TV of Salt Lake City that she felt her ear pop and then bubble because of the pressure in the cabin. It's not clear what caused the pressurization issue but Delta technicians were able to fix it. The plane was briefly taken out of service Sunday morning and went back into service the following day, Delta said.

The Federal Reserve is expected to announce Wednesday its first interest rate cut since 2020. While layoffs remain low, hiring has virtually ground to a halt, especially in some white-collar professions, making the job search process unusually difficult for many. That would entail a cut of at least 0.5% at some point by the time the Fed announces its interest rate in January. The Fed believes Wednesday's anticipated cut, and ones likely coming over the next several months, should put a floor under further economic deterioration. "Layoffs remain low, job openings remain high, GDP is growing at a healthy pace, and there have not been any major negative shocks," David Mericle, Goldman Sachs' chief U.S. economist, said in a note to clients.

Atlanta police on Tuesday continued to search for two robbers captured on video dropping into a check cashing store from the ceiling and grabbing stacks of cash from a safe. The images appear to be taken from the security video. SAN DIEGO — The Home Depot agreed to a nearly $2 million settlement in a case that alleged it overcharged customers, charging more for items at checkout than the items' advertised prices. In an emailed statement responding to a request for comment about the settlement, Home Depot said, “To ensure consistency for our customers, we’ve updated the timing of our price changes." The settlement includes $1.7 million to be divided among the district attorneys' offices of Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Alameda, San Bernardino and Sonoma counties for consumer law enforcement. "This settlement is a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated and underscores our commitment to safeguarding the rights of consumers in our community," Gascón said.
