The prefixes Brown came up with are ronna and ronto for 1027 and 10-27 and quetta and quecto for 1030 and 10-30. In fact, SI units used to be based on actual, real-life physical artifacts. "If everyone sticks to SI prefixes," Brown says, "you don't have to go on Wikipedia to find out how long a light-year is or the power in 1 jansky." But first, we've got hedge fund returns. It's returns season for hedge funds, and boy is this year a doozy. Insider's Alex Morrell has a breakdown of how some of the flagship strategies at top hedge funds like AQR, Citadel, D.E. Alex's story gets into the nitty gritty — and more importantly, the specific numbers — but the big takeaway is this: While 2022 was a pretty awful year for the hedge fund industry, some of the industry's top funds absolutely crushed it. For the third straight year, Atherton, California, is the most expensive ZIP code in the U.S. to own a home. Near Stanford University, and home of tech executives and venture capitalists, Atherton has resisted development of multifamily properties, which has kept homes large and exclusive. In second place is Sagaponack, New York, an enclave of a few hundred residents in the Hamptons, followed by the posh Bel Air neighborhood in Los Angeles. Third place is perhaps the most famous ZIP code in the U.S.: 90210 — namesake of the '90s teen melodrama "Beverly Hills, 90210." For corporations, pushing together streaming services reduces the number of people who cancel each month, known in the industry as churn. But those companies also offer their own competing streaming services – The Roku Channel, Prime Video and Apple TV+, respectively – which could deter broader partnerships. Wireless companies already offer promotional pricing to streaming services as sign-up bonuses. From the standpoint of niche services, Peacock hasn't come to them with a coherent strategy, according to several people familiar with the talks.
When Casey Howard and her client saw the Studio Bel Vetro Light Drop chandelier in a showroom, they had an “aha” moment. “We both agreed it was perfect; it’s sculptural in the day and twinkles above the lights at night,” says Ms. Howard, principal designer and owner of Danville, Calif.-based Casey Howard Interior Design. The house has large windows along a curved exposure that maximize views of the San Francisco Bay, Oakland and San Francisco. In the dining room, those windows—plus stairs that curve into the space—create a room with few right angles. “Because it’s a semicircle, the space presented some design challenges,” Ms. Howard says, noting that the unusual shape led to some innovative solutions.
