Every company has to start somewhere, and for Uline, that beginning was 1980 in the Illinois basement of Dick and Liz Uihlein. Dick Uihlein started Uline to sell a product called a carton sizer, "one of the neatest little tools I'd ever seen." Bit by bit, the Uihleins added more packing supplies to their selection and slashed delivery times to the minimum — a decade before Jeff Bezos launched Amazon. "It's weird to develop a love of corrugated boxes and shipping supplies, but I really enjoy it," Liz told the Milwaukee BizTimes in 2020. The Uihlein family as featured on the Uline website.

Renowned value investor Guy Spier weighed in on CNBC's Pro Talks on whether it's better to put your money in an S & P 500 index fund , in U.S. Treasurys , or in shares of Berkshire Hathaway for the long run. Asked whether he would invest in the S & P 500 or Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway stock for the rest of his life, Spier said the question poses a false choice that investors don't need to make. Rather than picking one over the other, Spier suggests dividing the investment 50-50 between the S & P 500 and Berkshire, then rebalancing positions at the end of each year. A small risky bet may be acceptable for an investor, if it represents a tiny percent of their overall portfolio. That compares to the S & P 500 ′s 8.2%, the MSCI World 's 6.9%, and the FTSE 100 ′s 3.6%.

The center polled 906 unmarried Gen Z and millennial pairs in June. Gen Z recognizes that weddings are expensive, but the majority, or 66%, say it will be worth the cost, The Knot found in forthcoming research. U.S. women's national team coach Vlatko Andonovski has resigned, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The move comes less than two weeks after the Americans were knocked out of the Women's World Cup earlier than ever before. The four-time tournament champions struggled throughout the World Cup. The United States had never finished worse that third at the World Cup. The 46-year-old Andonovski was named coach of the United States in October 2019, taking over for Jill Ellis, who led the United States to back-to-back World Cup titles.

When I’m around young adults I like to ask them how they are thinking about the big commitments in their lives: what career to go into, where to live, whom to marry. Most of them have thought a lot about their career plans. But my impression is that many have not thought a lot about how marriage will fit into their lives. In 2006, 50 percent of young adults said it was very important for a couple to marry if they intended to spend the rest of their lives together. But by 2020 only 29 percent of young adults said that.

In his next three games, Messi had four goals. And Inter Miami, frankly poor before Messi showed up, has six straight wins in the Leagues Cup tournament and has advanced to the final. Messi opened the scoring with a shot from outside the box, but Miami trailed by 3-1 after an hour and by 4-2 with 10 minutes to play. But Messi curled in a free kick that was headed in for an own goal, then effortlessly spun another free kick over a leaping wall to tie the score. That took the game to penalties, and Messi duly scored the first of five perfect pens for Miami.

That means avoiding a two-game home sweep at the hands of the lowly crosstown-rival White Sox on Wednesday night. "We've just got to move on to (Wednesday)," Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks said. Assad didn't allow a baserunner over 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief against the White Sox on July 26. Former President Donald J. Trump was indicted for a fourth time on Monday, this time over what prosecutors in Atlanta described as his and his allies’ efforts to unlawfully undo his election loss in Georgia in 2020. The indictment follows a lengthy investigation by Fani T. Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, and includes 13 charges against Mr. Trump, as well as charges against 18 other Trump allies who Ms. Willis said were part of a “criminal enterprise” seeking to overturn the Georgia election results. Here’s what to know. Trump was charged under Georgia’s RICO ActProsecutors charged Mr. Trump and his allies under the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, which allows them to tie together various crimes committed by different people by arguing that they were acting together for a common criminal goal. Georgia’s RICO Act is patterned after a federal law that was passed to combat organized crime groups but in recent years has been used effectively in white-collar crime and political corruption cases.

Climate change coverage has progressed leaps and bounds in recent years. Newsrooms have become far more cognizant about tying extreme weather events, like flash flooding and heat waves, to the larger trend. More alarmingly, perhaps, of the only eight segments that mentioned climate change during this particular window on television, all of them came from CNN and MSNBC. ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News did not tie the fires to climate change in any of the 35 segments that aired. “The best climate coverage pairs human stories with the stories in the data and science.
