Iconic television journalist Barbara Walters has died at 93, her former employer ABC News reported Friday. Walters became the first woman to anchor a U.S. evening news program in 1976. She got her start in TV journalism with NBC News' "Today," where she first appeared in 1964. Robert Iger, CEO of ABC parent company Walt Disney , issued a statement calling Walters "a dear friend." "Barbara was a true legend, a pioneer not just for women in journalism but for journalism itself," Iger said.

Lena Horne made history this week as the first Black woman to have a Broadway theater named in her honor. The Brooks Atkinson Theatre on West 47th Street, near Broadway in Manhattan’s Theater District, was renamed the Lena Horne Theatre on Tuesday in recognition of the famed performer and civil rights activist. The Lena Horne Theatre seats more than 1,000 people and is one of nine Broadway theaters throughout New York City belonging to the Nederlander Organization. The Lena Horne Theatre was previously named the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and the Mansfield Theatre. Horne won several awards during her career, including two Grammys, in 1982 and 1996, along with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989.

The book, set for release on Nov. 1, alleges that Albrecht lunged at and strangled Emerson. In the book, Albrecht states that he “rejects and disagrees with the characterization of what occurred” in the 1991 incident. (CNN) Naomi Ackie shines as Whitney Houston in the upcoming biopic "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." Houston fans can see Ackie, whose credits include roles in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" and "Doctor Who," starring as the late singer in a trailer for the film, which was released on Thursday. "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" is written by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote the hit 2018 Freddie Mercury biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody." It is directed by Kasi Lemmons. The film is produced by Clive Davis, who is played in the movie by Stanley Tucci.
