Bank of America predicts large-cap value stocks will start to outperform growth stocks. AdvertisementThe most boring area of the stock market is poised for a "renaissance" of outperformance, according to Bank of America. AdvertisementA hard landingAnother scenario in which value stocks should outperform is if the economy experiences a hard landing. That would likely lead to a sharp sell-off in growth-oriented stocks and the relative outperformance of value stocks. The stock market's leaders are overvalued and could suffer a big correction, RBA's Richard Bernstein said. The RBA chief investment officer pointed to a discrepancy between the debt and equity markets, which could hint at a soon-to-come market correction. But, only a narrow group of stocks are dominating the equity market, which implies profits aren't expanding for most companies. While large-cap stocks tanked during the lost decade of the 2000s, small-cap, energy, and emerging market stocks did exceedingly well. In a previous note, he said the stock market's shifting leadership from the most-hyped names to underloved equities presents once-in-a-generation opportunity for investors.

"The lower-end customer is really being stretched," Anderson said on an earnings call with analysts Wednesday. "We've got to deliver value, and we've got to really display that in how we go to market, and when you walk in the store, what you see. This, he said, indicates that when consumers see the value of products, the more they have to "stretch their dollar." Though there has been some indication that aspects of the U.S. economy are improving, consumer sentiment has been lagging. In fact, consumer sentiment dropped more than 10% in May, according to the University of Michigan Survey of Consumers.

The investment bank initiated coverage of the pharmaceuticals stock with a buy rating, setting a 12-month price target of $169. Jazz Pharmaceuticals has slipped 15% this year. New Delhi CNN —Narendra Modi has declared victory in India’s election but he’ll need the support of smaller parties to govern, a shock result that could make it harder for him to pass major economic reforms. Experts have highlighted land reform as an example of policies that might now be tougher for Modi to implement. India will need to address those issues if it is to capitalize on the massive rethink underway among companies on supply chains. Despite the surprise electoral setback for Modi’s right-wing, Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), experts say the world’s fastest growing major economy will continue to live up to its billing. The party’s underperformance led to a plunge on India’s stock market, which had its worst day in four years Tuesday.

While stock splits don't affect a company's value, they can catalyze a move higher or lower, according to Wolfe Research. Artificial intelligence chipmaker Nvidia announced a 10-for-1 stock split as part of its quarterly earnings report on May 22. The firm examined the roughly 3,000 stock splits from large-cap U.S. companies since 1993 to examine their impact. Here are the favorable criteria Senyek identified: Large market capitalization Higher absolute share price Multiple stock splits in the past "Larger cap, higher price and multiple splits is the 'sweet spot' for stock splits' signaling mechanism," said Senyek. "For what it's worth, the pending Nvidia stock split meets the three aforementioned positive criteria."

"With yields holding firm at elevated levels , large caps continue to outperform small caps. Hopes for multiple rate cuts from the Federal Reserve this year have dimmed after recent inflation readings showed signs of stickiness. An economy that is growing more slowly, but with cooler inflation, could be the combination small caps need. Small caps could also benefit from an uptick in the global economy that benefits areas like manufacturing that has heavy representation in the small-cap index.
