A majority of chief financial officers (55%) say Harris will win the election, according to the Q3 CNBC CFO Council Survey. That's a reversal from the prior CFO survey in Q2 (when President Joe Biden was still the candidate) and a majority of CFOs (58%) believed Trump would win. In the Q2 CFO survey, 29% of executives said they were unsure who would win. The majority belief that Harris will win comes despite an equal majority of CFOs (55%) telling the survey that Trump is better on inflation and for the economy. The CNBC CFO Council Survey was conducted between August 19 and September 19, a period which included the presidential debate.

According to a UBS survey of investors with at least $1 million of investible assets, 57% plan to vote for Harris and 43% plan to vote for Trump. Harris wins 91% of Democratic millionaires surveyed, 12% of Republicans and 60% of independents. Trump wins 88% of Republican millionaires, 9% of Democrats and 40% of independents. While they support Harris more broadly, the investors who were surveyed give Trump slightly higher marks on the economy and taxes. If Trump wins, they said defense and energy stocks look attractive, but if Harris wins, they said health care, sustainable investing and tech stocks look best, according to the survey.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris called former President Donald Trump's tariff proposals "a sales tax on the American people," in an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle. "You don't just throw around the idea of just tariffs across the board, and that's part of the problem with Donald Trump," Harris said. The questions came during Harris' first one-on-one interview with a national network since becoming the Democratic nominee. Harris has proposed expanding the child tax credit, creating a tax break for homebuilders and providing a subsidy for first-time homeowners. Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert left the Chargers’ 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers early Sunday after appearing to reaggravate the high-ankle sprain that had sidelined him in practice in the days leading up to the game. Herbert did not play the entire fourth quarter as the Chargers (2-1) lost for the first time, while Pittsburgh (3-0) remained undefeated under quarterback Justin Fields. The ground game wasn’t a boost, either, with the Chargers managing only 61 yards on 20 carries. Herbert left the stadium in a walking boot. After the loss to the Steelers, Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that going into Sunday, the team planned to remove Herbert if he showed any sign of a limp.
