But my enjoyment of his newfound Resistance shtick doesn’t bode well for Christie. The people he needs to win over are not liberal New York Times columnists, but voters who hate liberal New York Times columnists. The trick, for a Republican, is going to be painting Trump as a weak loser who will sabotage right-wing priorities. At times Christie tried to do this, as when he criticized Trump for his failure to build the border wall and repeal the Affordable Care Act. presidential nomination, would he be willing to accept the role of the presidential candidate of a 2024 center-right independent party?” Steinberg wrote in April.

The Masters Golf Tournament doubles the population of Augusta, Georgia, for one week every April. "There's not a lot of homes in this area that look like ours and rent for Masters," Hayley Mack told the outlet. We obviously get a very big number for Masters week." On a normal week, the home rents for about $2,500, but during the Masters, that sum swells to about $30,000. "The area is just pandemonium," Williams told Golf Digest.

Christie, 60, enters the race as a decided underdog, six years after his 2016 presidential campaign failed to gain traction amid a crowded field that included Trump. In March, Christie told Axios he would not vote for Trump in 2024 even if the former president was the Republican nominee. He has played the role of attack dog before: in a memorable presidential debate appearance shortly before he ended his 2016 campaign, Christie mocked U.S. He and Trump exchanged plenty of barbs during the early stages of the 2016 campaign. Christie was also a candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination but was beaten by eventual nominee Mitt Romney.

Phil Murphy on Wednesday said he would consider defying the Supreme Court and continue to provide mifepristone if the court rules in favor of a ban on the abortion pill. When asked if the state would prescribe mifepristone after such a ruling, Murphy told MSNBC: "To be determined." It's going to cost them health, it's also going to cost peoples' lives, women in particular sadly. That's what's at stake, we'll do whatever it takes to save lives," said Murphy, a Democrat. The case hinges on whether the Food and Drug Administration's approval of the abortion pill should be rolled back.

Chris Christie on Sunday called former President Trump's 2024 bid a "vanity exercise." The former governor is mulling a 2024 campaign of his own and is set to make a decision this month. The former governor has indicated that he would make a decision about a 2024 campaign sometime this month.

This question had residents of Old Bridge, New Jersey, scratching their heads over the past few days, although part of the mystery may have been solved. Uncooked spaghetti found along a stream in Old Bridge, New Jersey, in a photo taken by resident Nina Jochnowitz, who said all kinds of things are dumped in the Jersey woods. The Old Bridge Department of Public Works mopped up “what appeared to be 15 [wheelbarrow] loads of illegal dumped pasta along a creek in a residential neighborhood,” Shah said. Full disclosure: Old Bridge is my hometown. Two Old Bridge residents (again, full disclosure: my parents) made a previously unplanned stop on Thursday afternoon near the scene, and my dad walked through the wooded area.

CNN —The United States Secret Service on Monday said it turned away the Muslim mayor of Prospect Park, New Jersey, ahead of the Eid reception at the White House. Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah was not permitted to attend Monday’s Eid reception despite an invitation to the East Room ceremony after his clearance for entry was not approved by Secret Service, the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ New Jersey chapter told CNN in a statement. “Unfortunately we are not able to comment further on the specific protective means and methods used to conduct our security operations at the White House.”The White House referred all questions on the incident to USSS. Normal procedure for guests invited to the White House is that once a guest receives an invitation, they must submit information to the Secret Service via WAVES after which the Secret Service makes the final decision on whether the guest is cleared for entry into the White House. A staffer from the White House social office called Khairullah, but did not offer an explanation on the decision, the mayor told CNN.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A prominent moderate U.S. House of Representatives Democrat said Friday that it is time for President Joe Biden to begin daily talks with Republicans on government spending and debt, to avoid a calamitous default. REUTERS/Elizabeth FrantzRepresentative Josh Gottheimer rejected Republican demands to raise the $31.4 trillion debt ceiling only in exchange for deep spending cuts. “It’s critically important that all the parties sit down at the White House with the president and start having these conversations. That’s not negotiable,” Biden said on Wednesday, the day House Republicans narrowly passed their own legislation this week to lift the debt ceiling in exchange for sharp spending cuts. Gottheimer said it doesn’t matter whether the debt ceiling is considered together with spending and deficits or looked at separately.

The agency said it will reduce flight requirements for airlines' take off and landing rights to avoid congestion. Airline executives have repeatedly complained about air traffic control shortfalls contributing to flight disruptions as air travel sprang back from pandemic lows in the past few years. Airlines last summer also reduced their schedules to avoid delays as they dealt with their own staffing issues and other strains. The FAA said it expects increased delays in the New York City area this summer compared with last year, projecting a 45% rise in delays with operations growing 7%. Later this month, the FAA will hold a summit with airlines about other ways it can ease disruptions in the area.
