Facebook staff have reportedly been instructed not to fact-check former president Donald Trump. Trump announced on Tuesday evening he's running for president in 2024. Facebook says on its website that politicians are exempt from fact-checking, although they lose this protection once they leave office. The memo reported by CNN explained that some Facebook employees had requested guidance around fact-checking politicians ahead of Trump's speech on Tuesday evening. Meta suspended Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts in the wake of the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
Facebook almost certainly has your phone number and email address, even if you never handed them over. Now the firm has a new tool to let people check if Facebook has that data, and delete it. Meta/Shona Ghosh"You can ask us to confirm whether we have your phone number or email address," the firm states. It's possible that Meta isn't really technically deleting your phone number and emails at all, said Boiten. "It may well be that they only implement something like this on the outside — so at a point the phone number threatens to go outside the system, it says, 'This phone number is one we've been told we can't use,' rather than really removing information."

Meta/Handout via REUTERSOct 11 (Reuters) - Meta Platforms (META.O) unveiled its Quest Pro virtual and mixed reality headset on Tuesday, marking a milestone for Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's break into the higher-end market for extended reality computing devices. The Quest Pro features several upgrades over Meta's existing Quest 2 headset, which overwhelmingly dominates the consumer virtual reality market. For fully immersive virtual reality, Meta has added tracking sensors to the Quest Pro that can replicate users' eye movements and facial expressions, creating a sense that avatars are making eye contact. PITCHING PRODUCTIVITYMeta is pitching the Quest Pro as a productivity device, aimed at designers, architects and other creative professionals. For now, that means the Quest Pro stops short of enabling the complex commercial applications Meta has suggested it wants its metaverse tech to support.
