[1/4] F1 apparel is displayed for sale, as U.S. retailers including PacSun and Abercrombie & Fitch are launching lines of Formula 1-inspired apparel, in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S., November 15, 2023. Teen clothing chains Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF.N) and PacSun are among the U.S. retail chains seeking to turn Americans' budding love affair with Formula One into sales of F1-inspired clothing lines, building partly on excitement for this weekend's inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, the retailers said. At the start of the year, the average ticket price for the three-day race weekend was $1,667 -- more than triple that for some European races, such as the Belgian Grand Prix. Rolex paid $35 million in 2023 for a deal that includes title naming rights at two Grand Prix, according to research firm GlobalData. Ahead of the Vegas race, PacSun is selling a collection that includes a pair of $69 women’s cargo jeans and a $600 men’s leather jacket.

Under the Biden administration, Mr. Garland and Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco have made several overlapping efforts in this area. Mr. Bankman-Fried’s case was highly unusual, in large part because he became remarkably prominent in political circles and among certain members of the media. We can hire more qualified investigators and prosecutors in Washington to pursue these cases. Policy and organizational changes within the Justice Department may help a bit, but just as important (if not far more so), we also need to ensure that U.S. attorney’s offices and F.B.I. Ideally, Congress would do its part by significantly increasing funding for hiring more prosecutors, investigators and support staffs, and by committing to this effort as a yearslong national priority.

"It typically doesn't make financial sense, and there's a few reasons why," said Italy-based Alex Ingrim, a financial advisor at Chase Buchanan Wealth Management. While there may be some instances where "the pain of being American" arises in the tax liability, "you're very rarely double-taxed" as an American, Ingrim said. Similarly, if you earn Portuguese income and pay Portuguese income taxes, you will get some credits on your U.S. filing for taxes paid overseas, according to Boudreaux. However, they still have the U.S. tax liability. "For those people, it's a pain, and [they] opt for giving up their citizenship to avoid paying taxes," Ingrim said.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, shown in April, emphasized in a speech in October the importance of taking national security concerns into account when evaluating a target company. Photo: Eric Lee/Bloomberg NewsA Justice Department policy shift around the disclosure of possible wrongdoing uncovered in mergers and acquisitions reinforces the need for buyers to dive deep into a target’s compliance efforts, both before and after a deal closes, corporate advisers said. Under a new policy announced in October, an acquiring company that discloses potential wrongdoing at a company being acquired within six months of either side of the deal closing date—and fully cooperates and fixes the underlying problems within a year of closing—can presume it won’t be prosecuted by the Justice Department.

The new safe harbor program also "directly undermines" the Biden Administration's anti-monopoly efforts, they said. Hakimi shines as PSG win 3-1 at Rennes

RENNES, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Paris St Germain returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Rennes after Achraf Hakimi scored one goal and created another on Sunday to help the capital club move up to third in Ligue 1 two points off the pace set by AS Monaco. Before Rennes could recover, the Roazhon Park crowd was silenced once again four minutes later when PSG right back Hakimi ghosted past an unsuspecting defence and headed in 17-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery's cross from close range. Rennes improved after the break and hit back in the 56th minute when they pounced on a loose pass and Amine Gouiri headed home Ludovic Blas's cross to halve the deficit. PSG's Luis Enrique brought on Randal Kolo Muani a minute later and the forward got on the scoresheet almost immediately with a first-time finish from Hakimi's pass, leaving Rennes shell-shocked and their coach Bruno Genesio fuming on the bench. REUTERS/Amanda Andrade-Rhoades./File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 4 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department will not target companies that disclose wrongdoing they find by businesses they are buying in a bid to encourage more self-disclosure, the Deputy Attorney General said on Wednesday. To get credit, companies must disclose the misconduct discovered at the other firm within six months of the deal closing, and they will have one year from closing to fully remediate, Monaco said. The new program is the latest in a series of policy changes announced under President Joe Biden designed to simultaneously promote corporate compliance while holding bad actors more accountable. Earlier this year, the Justice Department rolled out a new clawback program designed to have executives foot the bill for misconduct. The agency has been boosting resources for corporate criminal enforcement, Monaco said when asked about a slowdown in enforcement.

Law enforcement investigations and criminal prosecutions will continue “without interruption,” the plan says, and prisons will remain staffed. Special counsels are instead funded by “the permanent, indefinite appropriation for independent counsels,” according to their expenditure reports. Civil litigation in lower federal courts will be “curtailed or postponed,” according to the Justice Department contingency plan.
