Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker are fighting to the finish in Georgia's Senate runoff. Warnock is seeking a full 6-year term, while Walker hopes to knock off the incumbent Democrat. Both parties see the Senate runoff as a proving ground in advance of the 2024 presidential election. Before Warnock and Ossoff won their races last year, a Democrat hadn't won a US Senate seat in Georgia since Zell Miller in 2000. Walker has raised $58.3 million, spent $48.5 million, and has $9.8 million left to spend, as of November 16.

Polls are open in Georgia for in-person voting Tuesday in the fierce Senate runoff election between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. The outcome of the Senate contest could have a major impact on Congress' makeup and its legislative abilities, both for the remainder of President Joe Biden's first term and for the 2024 political map. The Georgia race went to a runoff after neither Warnock nor Walker won more than 50% of the vote in the November general election. The high-profile election has been marked by dead-even polling, heavy spending and a cascade of personal scandals that have spilled into the runoff period.
An early vote that topped 1.85 million showed other positive signs for Warnock, with Democrats enjoying a 13-point edge — larger than the party’s 8-point lead in November’s early vote, according to TargetSmart’s model. But Walker is widely expected to win more of the votes cast on Election Day. Residents wait in line to vote early outside a polling station on Nov. 29 in Atlanta. Walker “needs to win Election Day by double digits,” said Cody Hall, an adviser to Kemp, who said the Republican candidate will have to outperform his advantage from November's Election Day. “But I would just caution everyone that base Republican voters in the last couple of cycles have liked turning out on Election Day.

ATLANTA—Georgia’s closely watched Senate race between incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker will be decided in Tuesday’s runoff election, as voters exhausted by nonstop advertising and urgent appeals to go back to the polls settle the last of the 2022 Senate midterm elections. Even before the runoff, the race was one of the most expensive in congressional history. As of Friday night, the last day of early voting, 1.85 million Georgia residents had cast their ballots early in-person or by mail, about 26% of the state’s active voters, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, which oversees elections.
As the U.S. Senate runoff between Sen. Raphael Warnock and football legend Herschel Walker reaches its final hours, an ex-girlfriend of Walker is sharing details of what she says is his abusive behavior toward her. Cheryl Parsa, 61, told NBC News on Sunday that she was in a five-year relationship with Walker in the 2000s. She said she confronted Walker, also 61, in 2005, after she found him with another woman at a Dallas residence. "He had his hand on my throat, my chest, and then he leaned back to throw a punch," Parsa said. "Who would have ever thought he would be running for Senate ... and I would feel this compelled to come forward?"
[1/2] Republican U.S. Senate candidate and former football player Herschel Walker speaks during an event ahead of the runoff election against Senator Raphael Warnock in Warner Robins, Georgia, U.S., December 2, 2022. Democrats secured effective control of the Senate in the Nov. 8 general election, while Republicans won the U.S. House of Representatives. The early vote is expected to have leaned Democratic, political experts from both parties say, meaning the Walker campaign goes into Tuesday with a sizeable deficit. It is not an insurmountable lead, Hicks said, noting that while Warnock edged past Walker in the Nov. 8 election by 49.44% to 48.49%, Walker won Election Day by some 220,000 votes. In 2017, VMP Nutrition and its founder Rodriguez settled a lawsuit filed by Southside Bank for an alleged failure to repay a $2,795,534 lien.
ATLANTA—Georgia voters have suffered through an extra dose of political ads because of Tuesday’s U.S. Senate runoff, and their pain has meant extra profit for WSB-TV, the station that has seen more money pass through it in 2022 than any other in the nation. More than $86 million in political advertising flowed into the ABC affiliate so far this year, according to data from the ad tracker AdImpact. It is a windfall generated by a confluence of high-profile races for governor and U.S. Senate, including the bonus of the runoff between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker . “Not only did they have multiple competitive races, but then they got a whole extra bite at the apple” with the runoff race, said Ken Goldstein , a polling and political analyst who has done academic research on campaign advertising.
Georgia will have its second runoff Senate race in less than two years after Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker finished within 1 percentage point of each other in November. Mr. Walker and Mr. Warnock earned backing from supporters across the state. Now they need to garner the votes that they left on the table in November. Mr. Walker may hope to mobilize Georgians who voted Republican elsewhere on the ballot, while Mr. Warnock could face less pressure if turnout declines. Precincts he lost had a higher turnout rate.

Warnock has a 50%-46% lead over Walker in the Georgia Senate runoff, per a new SurveyUSA poll. Independents, a critical slice of the Georgia electorate, backed Warnock over Walker by 13 points. In the poll, Warnock enjoyed near-unanimous support (95%) among Democrats, while Walker earned the backing of 87% of Republicans; 11% of GOP respondents crossed party lines to support Warnock over Walker in the survey. A recent Emerson College Polling survey showed Warnock leading Walker 49%-47% among likely voters, while a new CNN poll had Warnock ahead of Walker 52%-48%, also among likely voters.

Outgunned financially as Democrats dominate early voting, Herschel Walker’s Georgia Senate campaign Thursday begged donors to pony up more money because of Sen. Raphael Warnock’s growing sense of momentum. We need help,” Walker campaign manager Scott Paradise wrote in the memo sent to donors Thursday, which was obtained by NBC News ahead of Tuesday’s runoff election. “Core Republican voters just can’t get fired up about Walker, and they came out in the general because they liked Kemp or their congressional candidates. The Walker campaign is no longer beaming with the confidence it had heading into Election Day in November. “Some people still can’t get over the Trump connection,” said Ed Muldrow, the former chairman of the Gwinnett County GOP.
