But that plan carries serious risk, as it would jeopardize still-sizable cable revenue without guaranteeing that enough sports fans would support such a product. Several other analysts — including Barton Crockett of Rosenblatt Securities, who has a buy rating for Disney shares — seconded those concerns about cannibalizing cable revenue. Nollen estimated 35 million current cable customers would switch to ESPN DTC. ESPN DTC is zero incremental cost and potentially billions in incremental revenue." Trump reportedly rejected his legal team's proposal to try to settle the classified documents case. He instead took the advice of a conservative activist who urged him to fight, The Washington Post reported. However, Trump dismissed that strategy, and Kise never approached prosecutors, three people briefed on the matter told The Washington Post. Fitton was blamed by several Trump advisors for convincing the former president that he could hold on to the classified documents, according to The Washington Post. Trump pleaded not guilty in Miami federal court on Tuesday to the Justice Department's 37-count indictment against him.

Diamond Sports, the owner of regional sports networks, was ordered this week by a bankruptcy judge to make full media rights payments to four Major League Baseball teams. Diamond had already paid the teams up to 75% of the payments owed earlier in its bankruptcy, court papers show. If Diamond doesn't make the remainder of the payments owed to the teams, those teams can walk away from their contracts with the company, a judge ruled. In particular, Diamond has been pushing to hold the direct-to-consumer streaming rights to all MLB teams that air on its networks. Currently, Diamond has deals with all its NBA and NHL teams, plus a handful of MLB teams for the streaming rights.

NEW YORK/LONDON, June 1 (Reuters) - A bill backed by debt justice campaigners and civil society groups advocating on behalf of economically distressed countries could alter past and future sovereign debt restructurings covered by New York state law - and Wall Street is watching. Senate Bill S4747, the NY Taxpayer and International Debt Crises Protection Act, "relates to New York state's support of international debt relief initiatives for certain developing countries." The initiative has so far failed to accelerate debt relief talks, while private creditors are not even formally included in this initiative. It would "bring badly needed improvements to the framework for resolving unsustainable sovereign debt burdens," according to Nobel Prize-winning U.S. economist Joseph Stiglitz. If this bill passes, "I would recommend issuers not go through New York law, (but) through London or any other jurisdiction," said Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal, professor of banking and finance law at Queen Mary University of London.

Short-term Treasury bills have garnered investors' attention as yields pop amid the Federal Reserve's rate hiking campaign and debt ceiling tensions in Washington. This doesn't necessarily mean it's time to cut bait on your short-term bond holdings, however. Issues with longer duration are likely to see greater price fluctuation in response to changes in interest rates. The inverted yield curve also resulted in higher yields for short-term issues, but sharp price declines. Some investors built ladders — that is, a portfolio of bonds with different maturities — to take advantage of those higher yields.

New York CNN —Over the last 14 months, the Federal Reserve has taken a deliberate and economically painful approach to combating elevated inflation rates through interest rate hikes. The regional banking crisis and a possible debt-ceiling induced default on US debt could change all of that. What’s happening: There are two policy options that the Fed can use to address elevated inflation. For the first quarter, Lowe’s said overall sales fell 5.5% to $22.3 billion. Home Depot missed on first quarter sales and lowered its outlook for the year after customers slowed their spending.
