"It's a bit like my baby, our baby," Delphine Moulin, Paris 2024 director of celebration, told Reuters on Friday amid the sounds of metal being cut, bent, polished and sprayed with micro-particles of steel. You can see that it's different from the usually flared shape of the Olympic torch," Moulin added. You don't use the same kind of steel to make rails and to make this torch," ArcelorMittal France president Eric Niedziela said. Paris 2024 officials and ArcelorMittal have been tight-lipped on the budget of the torches' fabrication, declining to give an estimate of the overall cost. The Paris 2024 flame will be lit on April 16 in Ancient Olympia and will remain in the country for about a week before a handover ceremony in Athens and the start of its journey to France.

Our big mission statement is “nurturing a love of classical music for all,” and I take that “for all” portion of the statement quite literally. I think when they think video game music, they think it’s loud or it’s synthesized and there’s lots of rock and guitars. I really wanted to speak to them and speak to our younger audience as well. Every time we play a piece of video game music on our regular airwaves, we get such a reaction from younger listeners: “Oh my God, I can’t believe you played themes from Super Mario Bros.”You mentioned one preconception of video game music as being loud with guitars. Are there any other particular ideas you hope to dispel for an audience that may be encountering classical or video game music for the first time?

It's a critical question that will define whether Israel's war succeeds, experts on military strategy told Insider. Smoke and flame rise after Israeli air forces targeting a shopping center in Gaza Strip, Gaza on October 07, 2023. AdvertisementAdvertisementSpaceX COO Gwynne Shotwell told employees in a 2022 email to "focus on your job and the mission of SpaceX — to get humanity to Mars as quickly as possible," after they raised workplace complaints in an open letter, Reuters reported. Shotwell's email was in response to an open letter written by SpaceX employees that criticized the company's dismissive attitude toward employee concerns and inconsistent enforcement of discipline policies, per the report. Nine employees were fired for raising complaints in the letter — and eight of those have since filed unfair labor practice complaints with the National Labor Relations Board. SpaceX's mission "to go to Mars as fast as possible and save humanity permeates every part of the company," Tom Moline, a former SpaceX engineer who was fired after he made workplace complaints, told Reuters.

Burger King execs say the chain is planning to speed up the rollout of digital order kiosks. AdvertisementAdvertisementBurger King will double-down on digital order kiosks, which bosses say are better for both staff and customers – and also lead to bigger orders. Digital kiosks are large touchscreens where diners can order and pay in-restaurant instead of ordering from a staff member at a counter. Kobza said Burger King had started piloting kiosks in more company-owned restaurants with "tremendous results." Burger King posted systemwide sales growth of 10.3% to $7.06 billion in the quarter to September 30 compared with the same period in 2022.

Burger King said it demanded the main operator of its franchises suspend restaurant operations in Russia, but that "they have refused." Restaurant Brands International on Friday reported weaker-than-expected quarterly revenue, hurt by Burger King's disappointing same-store sales growth. Restaurant Brands said that unfavorable currency exchange rates hurt Tim Hortons, which accounts for roughly 60% of the company's revenue. Tim Hortons' same-store sales growth of 6.8% met Wall Street's expectations. Popeyes was Restaurant Brands' only chain to outperform expectations for same-store sales growth.

Hamas' fighters released footage purporting to show an Israeli tank under attack. In what appears to be helmet-cam footage, the fighter spies a number of tanks from behind bushes. That video did not align with that — there were no visible infantry or other forces who acted to stop the Hamas fighter. Analysts have predicted that Israel's fight in Gaza — which has seen massive civilian destruction — would not be a lightning offensive.

Tammy Reese was badly burned when a can of commercial-brand cooking spray ignited, a lawsuit alleged. A jury has ordered Conagra Brands to pay $7.1 million in compensatory and punitive damages. "We continue to stand by our cooking spray products, which are safe and effective when used correctly, as instructed. Consumers can check if their cooking spray cans are vented by looking at whether the bottom of the can has four small U-shaped slits, Smith said. "In a commercial kitchen, that's a sort of normal place where people leave their cooking spray cans when they're actually using them.

Chicago-based Conagra Brands must pay out $3.1 million in compensatory damages and $4 million in punitive damages to Reese, according to the Cook County Circuit Court verdict. Consumers can check if their cooking spray cans are vented by looking at whether the bottom of the can has four small U-shaped slits, Smith said. The cooking spray that exploded near Reese had been stored on a shelf about 18 inches (46 centimeters) above the stove, according to Flowers. “In a commercial kitchen, that’s a sort of normal place where people leave their cooking spray cans when they’re actually using them. The redesign was not related to the lawsuits and was part of an effort to standardize the company’s cans, Conagra said.

Globally, the fire story is less exponential, with declines in burned area in sub-Saharan Africa mostly offsetting rapid fire growth in the major midlatitude hot spots, with the global trend in fire emissions, as a result, mostly flat. The really good confidants — the people we go to when we are troubled — are more like coaches than philosopher kings. They see who you are becoming before you do and provide you with a reputation you can then go live into. I think I’m more approachable, vulnerable. I know more about human psychology than I used to. I came across it in Kathryn Schulz’s recent memoir, “Lost & Found.” Schulz’s dad, Isaac, was apparently a cheerful, talkative man.

The research network aims to examine the lifetime impact of exposure in the womb to chemical contaminants in air, water and food. Both DDT and HCB contamination in people occurs “mainly through bioaccumulation in the food chain via fish, fish products, meat (and) dairy products,” Montazeri said. The July 2022 report also found PFAS exposure was sufficiently associated with decreased infant and fetal growth as well as decreased antibody response to vaccines in both adults and children. Pregnant people can take steps to reduce their exposure to various chemicals in commercial products, food and water. “Phthalates and phenols come from plastics and personal care products,” Montazeri said.
