London CNN —Facebook parent Meta has been accused of breaking Europe’s new digital competition rules over its “pay or consent” advertising model. Late last year, Meta (META) launched a service called “Subscription for no ads,” allowing European users of Facebook and Instagram to pay up to €12.99 ($14) a month for ad-free versions. The alternative is to accept versions with personalized ads. “’Subscription for no ads’ follows the direction of the highest court in Europe and complies with the DMA,” a Meta company spokesperson told CNN. “We look forward to further constructive dialogue with the European Commission to bring this investigation to a close.”This is a developing story and will be updated.

CNN —Three military horses from the prestigious Household Cavalry have been recovered after bolting through central London on Monday morning. In scenes that appear to be similar to an instance in April, five soldiers were conducting a routine exercise with six horses from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, when the lead horse was spooked by a London bus. Along with the lead horse, which was being led rather than ridden at the time, two riders were thrown from their horses as the animals ran free through the capital’s streets. “We can confirm that whilst exercising this morning, three horses from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment became loose from their riders. “One horse received minor injuries, but no further treatment is required and there were no injuries to the soldiers involved,” the statement added.

CNN —Several people have been injured by an acid attack in a cafe in the west German city of Bochum. “A man entered the cafe at around 3.25 p.m. and poured an acidic liquid over a guest sitting at a table in the outdoor area” leaving the victim “seriously injured,” local police said in press release. A woman sitting at the table with him and a waitress were also injured. During the operation, four police officers and two firefighters who came into contact with the liquid also sustained injuries, police said. CNN —Russian state media claimed Sunday that American rapper and producer Kanye West is visiting Moscow, but CNN has not been able to independently verify he is actually there. Despite their courage and great sacrifice, thousands of LGBTQI+ service members were forced out of the military because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Biden said. CNN —Several US military bases across Europe were put on a heightened state of alert over the weekend, with the level of force protection raised to its second-highest state amid concerns that a terrorist attack could target US military personnel or facilities, according to two US officials.
