"After this weekend, it sure seems like the Trump stocks are back," he said. "Just keep in mind that plenty of companies are great enough to transcend politics, and sometimes what counts as a Trump stock can change on a dime." Trump will likely be more lenient when it comes to mergers and acquisitions than Biden, according to Cramer. According to Cramer, investors may want to avoid stocks related to saving the environment, as Trump doesn't believe in those measures. "Eight years ago, in a moment gripped by political fever, I put a button on my sound board that said 'trump stock, trump stock,' he said.

New York CNN —Macy’s management ended talks with private investors attempting to take over the company and will pursue its own turnaround strategy to remake the chain. The investors planned to take Macy’s private and consider spinning off its real estate assets or separating its online operations from brick-and-mortar stores. But Macy’s rejected a previous offer to buy the company at $21 a share in January. In March, the investors upped its offer to $24 a share, and Macy’s agreed to enter into talks about the bid. Google is in advanced talks to acquire cybersecurity firm Wiz for $23 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. It had been eyeing an IPO as recently as May, when the company achieved a valuation of $12 billion. Google has made large cyber acquisitions before: The company acquired cybersecurity firm Mandiant for $5.4 billion two years ago. But its reported talks with Wiz would suggest that the company has developed a fresh appetite for M&A, competitive concerns notwithstanding. Google had been in talks to acquire sales software maker Hubspot, CNBC previously reported, but its pursuit had reportedly cooled.

Electric Vehicles May Become Harder to Rent

If you’ve been wanting to try an electric vehicle, renting can be an affordable option. Electric vehicles have been financially disastrous for rental companies, especially Hertz, which in January scaled back plans to acquire 100,000 Teslas after the cars’ resale values plunged much faster than the company had expected. Hertz’s experience had a chilling effect on its industry, and many rental car companies are now trying to sell off electric vehicles at deep discounts. Last year, more than 4 percent of the cars sold by manufacturers to rental companies were electric, according to S&P Global Mobility. So far this year, that number is just 1.4 percent.

Along with the top- and bottom-line numbers, Wall Street is also keeping close watch on net interest income and guidance. "We see the greatest sources of potential earnings upside being driven by higher loan growth and capital markets." Barclays analyst Goldberg anticipates a slight decrease in net interest income in the second quarter due to a compression in net interest margin. Last year, the company posted $21.9 billion in net interest income for the period. Despite expectations for seasonally lower trading, he also expects strong investment banking activity and net interest income to drive ongoing positive momentum.

Brands have turned away from relying solely on Meta and are using many different platforms to acquire new customers, including relatively new channels like TikTok. Measured's data shows that Snap is the cheapest channel for brands to acquire customers. On TikTok, it costs brands $139.58 to acquire a customer, while Meta nets out to $83.16. Forty-seven percent of advertisers bought TikTok ads, and 5% of brands invested in Reddit ads to find customers. AdvertisementWhile Meta, Pinterest, and TikTok get more of Measured's clients to spend, the data suggests that Snap could be an overlooked channel for brands, as it has low acquisition costs.

More consolidation, more problems — that's the latest fear gripping the theatrical industry. After a monthslong negotiation process, Paramount and Skydance have struck a merger agreement. Namely, that continued consolidation in the industry will exacerbate production woes that have led to fewer film releases in recent years. Skydance founder David Ellison during an investor call Monday touted that Paramount and Skydance have produced 30 feature films together. However, each company has other producing partners, and it is unclear how this merger could affect production going forward.

The circumstances surrounding eyed needles raised a number of questions. How do you alter your appearance for social purposes? “We don’t need to have eyed needles to manufacture clothing,” he said. This evidence would support the theory that eyed needles played a role in decoration, without ruling out their use for tailoring. “Our study shows that eyed needles are a marker for this change in the function of clothing, from thermal to social necessity,” he added.

I'm an American living in Denmark, and for the first time I am having to play by the cultural and legal rules of Danish summer vacation. When your child starts attending public school, schools close down during the summer period. In Denmark, enjoying a long summer vacation isn't just a perk — it's a right under the Danish Holiday Act, called Ferieloven. The Holiday Act says that employees should ideally inform their employers about their leave plans three months in advance for the main holiday period. Paramount Global will merge with Skydance, capping off a months-long negotiation that included various twists and turns, and will see the Redstone family step away from control of the storied movie studio and media company. Paramount's special committee agreed to the merger on Sunday, days after Shari Redstone's National Amusements, the controlling shareholder of Paramount, once again reached a preliminary agreement with Skydance. The latest iteration of the deal will see the buying consortium, which includes RedBird Capital Partners and KKR, invest more than $8 billion into Paramount and to acquire National Amusements. The deal gives National Amusements an enterprise value of $2.4 billion, which includes $1.75 billion in equity. A completed Skydance merger would mark a major shift for the ownership of Paramount, as well as for Hollywood as a whole.

CNN —Paramount Global—the sprawling media empire behind CBS, MTV, and one of Hollywood’s most storied movie studios—has agreed to merge with technology scion David Ellison’s Skydance Media, ending years of speculation over the company’s fate. The complicated transaction will see Skydance first buy National Amusements, then merge with Paramount, valuing Skydance at $4.75 billion. The combined company will be helmed by Ellison as chief executive and former NBCUniversal chief Jeff Shell as president. The deal caps a tumultuous and protracted saga that began in December, with the two companies entering into exclusive negotiations in April, resulting in the ouster of longtime Paramount chief executive Bob Bakish. In the meantime, the company has been run by a triumvirate of leaders: Brian Robbins, chief executive of Paramount Pictures; Chris McCarthy, chief executive of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios; and George Cheeks, chief executive of CBS.

But he is definitely leaning on the idea that he's building a media company that is also a tech company. That's partly because David Ellison isn't a tech mogul. But this reminds me a bit of the 2015 era when digital publishers like BuzzFeed and Vox Media told investors they weren't media companies but tech companies that made media. The bigger problem with the tech + media pitch isn't that tech and media aren't intertwined. AdvertisementThe real problem that Paramount — and just about every other big media company — has these days isn't that its tech isn't good enough.
