Tesla 's big miss on first-quarter deliveries is raising alarm even among some of the stocks most strident supporters. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, a long-time optimist about the automaker and its CEO Elon Musk, delivered a harsh review of the results on Tuesday morning. "While we were anticipating a bad 1Q, this was an unmitigated disaster 1Q that is hard to explain away. Otherwise, some darker days could clearly be ahead that could disrupt the long-term Tesla narrative," Ives said in a note to clients. Saturday marks the final day of early voting before Tuesday’s presidential primary and turnout so far has been light. Delaware previously allowed early voting, but a state court struck it down as unconstitutional in a Feb. 23 ruling. Marya Ursin finally got the chance to vote early in Connecticut and at a time that suited her busy schedule. Connecticut came close in 2014 to finally amending its constitution to grant the General Assembly the authority to eliminate restrictions on early voting and allow expanded eligibility for absentee ballots. “Too much opportunity for cheating,” JoLynn Brochu said of the early voting option.

Biden signs government funding bill
  + stars: | 2024-03-23 | by ( Clare Foran | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +2 min
CNN —President Joe Biden on Saturday signed into law the $1.2 trillion legislation that completes the funding of federal agencies through the fiscal year, which ends September 30. The House passed the package on Friday, and the Senate passed it early Saturday morning. The bill addresses a slate of critical government operations, including the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, State and the legislative branch. This legislation is the second part of a two-tiered government funding process. A separate six-bill funding package, which was signed into law earlier this month, included funding for the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Veterans Affairs, Energy, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, as well as the Food and Drug Administration, military construction and other federal programs.

NEW YORK (AP) — Garden centers enjoyed a pandemic boom, particularly with millennials, as people looked for outdoor activities during lockdowns. To regain the sales momentum, garden centers must navigate a number of challenges as another spring season kicks in. At Flowercraft Garden Center, a San Francisco garden center that is in its 50th year of operation, houseplants, vegetable starter plants and citrus trees are selling well, said general manager Lydia Patubo. That was good for an area suffering from a yearslong drought, but bad for garden center business. Even though his sales have plateaued since the pandemic, he feels the 34-year-old garden center is in a good spot.

Three times over the five hours, Biden told Hur he is a “frustrated architect.”He allowed that his wife, Jill, once offered to send him to architecture school if he’d only stop running for the Senate. “I have them hanging on the walls all over the downstairs, the television room, and some in the library,” Biden told Hur. In subsequent years, as vice president, Biden collected $2,200 a month in rent payments for the guest house from the Secret Service. It was there that investigators found his personal notebooks documenting key meetings from his time as vice president. “I just wanted you to know I picked out the walnut tree that got cut down,” Biden told investigators.

But the transcript of Biden's interview, which was reviewed by NBC News, paints a more nuanced picture on both sides. At one point, Hur acknowledged that some of the questions he would ask would "relate to events that happened years ago." According to the review of the transcript, Biden at times expanded beyond the narrow subject areas of particular questions. In his opening statement, Hur planned to defend his investigation, the final report and his treatment of Biden's age. He also noted that some of the issues he was dealing with as vice president continue today.

Speaking at the Next.io forum on internet gambling and sports betting, several mentioned New York and Maryland as likely candidates to start offering internet casino games soon. And some noted that, despite years of difficulty crafting a deal that satisfies commercial and tribal casinos and card rooms, California is simply too big a market not to offer internet gambling. Shawn Fluharty, a West Virginia state delegate and chairman of a national group of legislators from gambling states, listed New York and Maryland as the most likely states to add internet gambling soon. Both men acknowledged the difficulty of passing online casino legislation; Thirty-eight states plus Washington, D.C., currently offer sports betting, compared to seven with internet casino gambling. Fluharty said four casinos opened in Pennsylvania after the state began offering internet casino gambling.

As the prevalence of online betting grows, there's plenty of revenue to be had. The more people gamble — and the more culturally acceptable gambling becomes — the more possibility gambling addiction becomes a bigger issue. Of course, as fun as sports gambling is — as is gambling in general — it has some serious downsides for society. According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, 2 million Americans have a severe gambling problem, and another 4 million to 6 million a mild or moderate problem. Does your dog need a coat?

But all this begs the question: Does your dog need a coat? Prada's Re-Nylon puffer dog coat with hood comes in two colors and three sizes, $825 From PradaBut the transition from Fifth Avenue high-end and high fashion to high-performance and technical function has certainly accelerated in recent decades. Elon Musk has had it with Delaware — but don't expect other corporations to flee the business-friendly state, too. Musk also specifically went after the judge who ruled to void his pay package, Kathleen McCormick, calling her an "activist and politician" in an X post. How damaging are all the renewed questions about age and mental acuity going to be? One Democratic member of the House responded to being told of the questions about age and memory raised in the report with a morbid laugh and sullen shake of the head. Inside the White House and among Biden’s reelection campaign staff, the tension is constant. Biden aides also feel themselves that this hasn’t been enough. The special counsel report found that Biden willfully retained classified information, including top secret documents, and knew he was in possession of some documents as far back as 2017. Biden Not Charged by Special Counsel for Mishandling Documents

Special Counsel Robert Hur said he opted against bringing criminal charges after a 15-month investigation because Biden cooperated and would likely be difficult to convict. Hur's conclusion ensures that Biden, unlike his expected 2024 presidential rival Donald Trump, will not risk prison time for mishandling sensitive government documents. Biden has also sought to draw a contrast with Trump on issues of personal ethics and national security. Trump has described the four criminal prosecutions he faces — including one for his handling of classified documents — as politically motivated. The White House said Biden's attorneys found a small number of classified documents and turned them over after discovery.

(Reuters) - Investigators on Thursday sifted through the charred ruins of a house in a Philadelphia suburb for the remains of at least six people, including at least one child, after the home was set ablaze by a suspect who shot and wounded two responding police officers. When police arrived, the suspect opened fire from inside the home, striking two officers, and set fire to the two-story, wood-frame home. "I think today might be a grim day," he told Fox 29 in Philadelphia, adding the shooter is expected to be among the dead inside the home. The fire burned too intensely for firefighters to enter as flames and smoke billowed out of the home, Stollsteimer told reporters on Wednesday. "We got the thumbs up from them," said Stollsteimer, the chief prosecutor for the county, which has a population of about 575,000.

(Reuters) - Six to eight people are feared dead in a house fire that broke out near Philadelphia on Wednesday, and two police officers responding to the blaze were wounded by gunfire from inside the home, officials said. The suspected shooter was believed to have set fire to the home and was among those still inside, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said. The fire was burning too intensely to enter, so officials said they would wait until Thursday to search for victims, Stollsteimer told reporters. We know the victim's family had a lot of people living in that house including children. We're aware that there were at least six to eight people who are unaccounted for from that family," Stollsteimer said.
