The House voted to vacate the Office of the Speaker on Tuesday, booting Kevin McCarthy from his job. The House, under interim speaker Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, will now have to hold speaker elections once again, and it's not clear where that will lead. In 1910, House Speaker Joseph Cannon called the motion himself as he faced a mutiny from his own party, daring his own members to oust him. The Saturday measure, while supported by most House Republicans, ultimately passed with more Democratic than Republican votes. Gaetz and dozens of other House Republicans — potentially more than half — oppose sending more aid to the besieged country.

WASHINGTON, Sept 20 (Reuters) - When the CEO gets a 40% raise, what do the workers deserve? UAW President Shawn Fain initially asked for a 40% increase in worker's pay over the next four years - a figure based off an approximately 40% increase in CEO pay at the companies over the last four years at a time of stable profits for two of the three automakers. CEO pay and benefits have skyrocketed in recent decades, but worker pay has not kept pace. As the strikes began last week, Biden echoed Fain, saying automakers should offer more of the share of their profits to workers. Attempts to address rising CEO pay in decades past have not had the intended effect, said Rosanna Landis Weaver, director of wage justice and CEO pay at As You Sow, a non-profit shareholder advocacy group.

Marvel Studios' visual effects workers unanimously voted in favor of unionizing with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, IATSE announced Wednesday. This marks the first time a unit of solely VFX workers have unionized with the group. The Marvel Studios VFX crew has more than 50 workers, according to IATSE. Now that the vote is official, Marvel VFX workers must engage in collective bargaining negotiations with Marvel Studios executives in order to draft a contract. Loeb told Marvel's VFX artists that it has the backing of IATSE, telling those who voted to unionize, "Your fight is our fight."
