And Democratic-aligned donors from all those worlds are eager to help Harris get there. That figure marks the year of the sorority’s founding at Harris’ alma mater, Howard University. More than 1.1 million donors have contributed – with 62% of them first-time givers this cycle, Harris’ campaign said. He said he held his first fundraiser for Harris at his Boston-area home during her successful 2016 Senate campaign. But for all the early enthusiasm, the groups supporting Harris say big challenges remain – both in sustaining her campaign’s early financial momentum and in helping blunt looming attacks on her race and gender.

According to Prasad and other experts, Harris' approach to China would likely be similar to that of Biden. Trump's biggest diversion from Biden-era trade policy would likely be tariffs levied on China. The Trump administration reached a "phase one trade deal" with China in 2019, but few terms were honored and subsequent phases never materialized. How Kamala Harris can beat Donald Trump

Still, the 2020 results show that Harris can make up even more ground with these groups in her expected matchup against Donald Trump. Among Black voters, Biden led Trump 84% to 9% at the end of the 2020 campaign. This may seem like bad news for the Harris campaign, and, in one clear way, it is. Without improving among these groups, Harris likely cannot win against the former president. The bottom line is that the latest CNN polling provides the Harris campaign with some hope.

The outcome of the U.S. presidential election and its implications for the crypto industry got more uncertain this week after Vice President Kamala Harris entered the race following President Joe Biden's exit. Many are now wondering what a Harris administration could mean for crypto – especially following years of an anti-crypto crusade led by Biden-appointed SEC Chair Gary Gensler and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. On Tuesday, a day after Harris launched her campaign, billionaire Mark Cuban said her advisors had begun reaching out to him about crypto policy . Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, had recently seen a boost as Trump incorporated crypto into his platform. The crypto industry sees itself as nonpartisan, and in recent weeks has bipartisan support for crypto in Congress has been growing.

Charlotte, North Carolina CNN —Donald Trump will step out onto the campaign trail Wednesday to an entirely new race and a political landscape once again irrevocably altered by an unprecedented election year. Meanwhile, Trump and his campaign are working to reimagine a playbook and operation launched to take on an unpopular 81-year-old incumbent. He predicted that Harris would start “gaining on or even leading President Trump” in the polls, though he also insisted that the “honeymoon” period would end. Trump’s appearance in Charlotte will provide his first opportunity to contrast himself with Harris before voters in a battleground state. But it was left off the list of states that the Biden campaign viewed as most winnable in a sobering post-debate assessment of the race.

Washington CNN —A federal judge on Wednesday refused to dismiss former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos over the anchor’s assertion that a jury concluded Trump had “raped” E. Jean Carroll. Trump filed the lawsuit in Florida federal court earlier this year, arguing that Stephanopoulos and the network defamed him when Stephanopoulos said during a contentious on-air interview with Rep. Nancy Mace that a jury found Trump had “raped” Carroll, a writer whose own cases against Trump led to him being found liable for sexual abuse. ABC News did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment. In the Trump-ABC lawsuit, US District Judge Cecilia Altonaga, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, wrote Wednesday that these definitions were different enough to let the case move forced. His analysis necessarily focused on what Carroll had and had not proved at trial, as well as the harm Carroll experienced from (Trump’s) abuse.

It’s just a decisive move toward America First on foreign policy.”Trump’s selection of Vance is one of the clearest barometers of the former president’s tightening hold over the GOP. Those included Christian conservatives, the business community, congressional insiders and traditional Republican foreign policy hawks shaped by Ronald Reagan’s vision of the US as the muscular leader of the free world. Instead, with Vance, Trump chose an acolyte and potential successor who could deepen and extend the direction the former president has set for the party. Vance has been most unequivocal in criticizing the internationalist approach to foreign policy centered on robust alliances. With the selection of Vance, Trump has broadcast his belief that he has conclusively won the internal GOP debate over all aspects of US interactions with the world – foreign policy, immigration and trade.

CNN —The ascension of Vice President Kamala Harris to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee in less than 48 hours is an unprecedented occurrence in American politics. Only four people in US history have won a presidential election as a sitting vice president. Back then, the vice president was the runner-up in the presidential election. In 1861, Vice President John Breckinridge oversaw the counting of electoral votes that made Abraham Lincoln president, at a time when Southern states seceded from the country rather than accept Lincoln’s 1860 victory. Vice President Richard Nixon narrowly lost the 1960 election to John F. Kennedy and oversaw the counting of electoral votes in 1961.

Delivering a jolt of enthusiasm to a party reeling from weeks of infighting, Vice President Kamala Harris rallied Democrats on Tuesday in Wisconsin and laid out a fierce argument against former President Donald J. Trump. Ms. Harris vowed, in her first rally as the de facto Democratic presidential nominee, to defeat Mr. Trump by attacking him as a prosecutor would. She walked out to cheers to the tune of Beyoncé’s “Freedom,” which the singer had allowed her to use. As one attendee put it, the moment felt like a release of months of pent-up Democratic energy. The prosecutor-versus-felon approach may appeal to undecided voters who had been sour on both Mr. Trump and President Biden. Mr. Trump, for his part, has been trying to soften some of his harshest rhetoric about seeking vengeance on his rivals ahead of the general election. In the case of Ms. Harris, the contempt is displayed both in public and private. Since then, Mr. Trump has attacked her savagely, particularly when she became Mr. Biden’s running mate in 2020.
