At the Global Clean Energy Action Forum in Pittsburgh on Thursday, the Department of Energy officially announced $50 million will go towards private fusion companies in public-private partnerships. Nuclear fusion is when two heavier atoms slam together to form a heavier atom, and is the way stars are powered. But it will help bolster U.S fusion companies and give them credibility. The private sector fusion industry has attracted almost $5 billion in venture and other funding according to the Fusion Industry Association.

A manhunt is underway for a gunman who shot three people at an amusement park in Pennsylvania on Saturday, police said. Three people including a juvenile male were hit after an altercation between two groups of teenage males near the Musik Express ride at the Kennywood amusement park in West Mifflin, a spokesman for Allegheny County Police told a news conference. Describing the suspect as a Black man wearing a black Covid-style mask, the spokesman said there was “an ongoing search” for the shooter. Bags were searched by the park with metal detectors at the entrance of the park in the southeast Pittsburgh, the spokesman said. Members of the park’s security, Allegheny County, and West Mifflin police departments were already on site and immediately responded.”

Five people who federal investigators say are associated with the far-right group America First have been arrested in connection with last year's attack on the U.S. Capitol. In addition to numerous criminal charges, they are accused of entering House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s conference room, according to a court filing.
