When the Federal Reserve adjusts the federal funds rate, the decision affects banking products. It holds eight meetings annually, and one of the primary topics discussed is the federal funds rate. As a consumer, you'll see that changes to the federal funds rate impact banking products. The Federal Reserve raised the federal funds rate several times in 2023 to combat inflation, which is why savings rates are still competitive in mid-2024. If the Fed raises interest rates, interest rates on banking products will likely be impacted.

In today's big story, President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid . The president ended his reelection campaign on Sunday, the culmination of mounting pressure from his party after a disastrous debate last month. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that "Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President." Biden's reelection campaign has quickly pivoted to serve Harris, making it an uphill battle for any Democrat looking to challenge her , writes Business Insider's Brent D. Griffiths. Many have made comparisons to the 1968 Democratic convention , which was a contested convention after President Lyndon B. Johnson ended his reelection campaign earlier that year.

Machine guns come in three types: we have light machine guns that chamber intermediate rounds and maximize weight savings; medium machine guns that offer more power with full-powered rifle rounds; and heavy machine guns that might weigh more than 100 pounds but provide light armor and barrier destruction as well as a longer range. SOCOM's new machine guns blend the medium and heavy machine gun types to create something novel. This new weapon seems ready to supplement or even replace the M2 heavy machine gun. This led to a demand for a gun that offers the range of a heavy machine gun with respectable power but without the weight. To put it simply, they want a weapon that weighs less than a medium machine gun but has the range of a heavy machine gun.

Money market accounts and savings accounts differ in two main ways: Money market accounts frequently come with debit cards, ATM cards, and checks, while savings accounts generally have a lower opening deposit requirement. Spot ether ETFs could launch as soon as July 22, reports say. Wall Street has issued a range of outlooks on how the world's second-largest cryptocurrency will move once the ETFs launch. The bank expects these funds to drive $15 billion to $45 billion worth of ether inflows in a 12-month window. Bulls derived their confidence from how bitcoin behaved after its spot ETFs launch in January. They noted bitcoin's first-mover advantage and stressed that the ether token offers functionality that wouldn't be accessible through the ETFs, thus limiting demand.

I asked a financial planner whether I should take money out of savings if interest rates drop. I haven't felt ready to follow their advice, especially since my high-yield savings account at Ally Bank has been offering 4% to 5% APY on the money in the account. If that happens, it might make sense for me to move money out of my high-yield savings account. I met with certified financial planner Jake Skelhorn, who shared three things I can do with that cash if interest rates drop. "While more volatile year-to-year, stock market returns have averaged approximately 10%, which is about double what you're getting in a high-yield savings account today."
