The son of NBA career scoring leader LeBron James was upbeat and jovial as he knocked down seven consecutive 3-pointers at one point during warmups, and then joined assistant coach Kurt Karis for an impromptu dance move on the sideline. James ignited the crowd when he rose up and jammed home a one-handed dunk. James was expected to have a final evaluation with USC staff before resuming practice next week, a family spokesperson said in a statement. When the team returned to the court for the start of the game, James took his spot at the end of the bench, donning gray USC sweats. MIAMI (AP) — Khris Middleton had a thought pop into his head immediately after Milwaukee topped Miami to finish group play in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament with an unbeaten record. Boston outscored the teams in its group by 27 points, compared with a plus-22 differential for Orlando and plus-20 for Brooklyn. That meant the Celtics won East Group C.“You just know what the reason is,” Nets forward Mikal Bridges said. The West race didn't end up with quite as much drama as the East had with the down-to-the-wire differential chasing. The teams that lose in the quarterfinals will play a to-be-added regular-season game against each other, East vs. East and West vs. West.

The 19-time All-Star took a light-hearted swipe at the Wolverines and coach Jim Harbaugh in the aftermath of the Los Angeles Lakers' win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. James grew up in Ohio, home to Michigan's biggest rival: Ohio State. He said the Lakers were able to decipher some of Suns coach Frank Vogel’s signals on the sideline because the team is familiar with him. The second-ranked Wolverines (9-0) have a shot to win a third straight Big Ten title and the school’s first national championship since 1997.

[1/63] Nov 8, 2023; Houston, Texas, USA; Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (23) looks over video with assistant coach Phil Handy before playing against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center. Sengun matched Green in efficiency, going 8 of 10 from the floor while, like Green, adding seven rebounds. The Rockets ran away and hid from the Lakers early, amassing 20 points in the paint in the opening period. The ease with which Houston scored was enhanced by superior ball security -- the Rockets committed only two turnovers in the first quarter -- and sticky defense. Rockets reserve Tari Eason paired nine points with nine rebounds in his season debut.
