CNN —Rookie Ben Rice had a day to remember as he hit three home runs in the New York Yankees’ huge 14-4 win against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Rice is the first ever rookie to hit three home runs in a single game for the Yankees. “It’s definitely a day I’ll never forget,” Rice said postgame, per MLB. “He hit three in a day – something he’ll never forget and people over here probably watching will never forget,” Boone added. Greason, who served as a mentor to teenaged Mays, told Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal that Negro League players took to the field despite racism and segregation. “The overwhelming consensus is that Willie Mays is the greatest all-around player who has ever played,” veteran sportscaster Bob Costas told CNN.

Skydance Media and its largest private-equity backer RedBird Capital Partners have been wooing Paramount for the better part of a year. CNN —Aaron Boone has been tossed from an MLB game 35 times since becoming New York Yankees manager in 2018, but his most recent ejection on Monday was certainly unique. Moments later, Boone was tossed when Wendelstedt heard a shout directed towards him – despite the offending words appearing to come from a fan in the stands and not the Yankees manager himself. You got anything else to say, you’re gone, OK?”The cameras then cut to a frustrated – but crucially silent – Boone who appeared to stand down. Per MLB, Wendelstedt conceded postgame that Boone “probably, you know, is not the one who made the comment,” but doubled down on his reasons for the ejection. Aaron Boone runs the Yankees.

At the end of this month, Major League Baseball will officially commence its 2024 season, and with spring training already in full swing, the chatter among hard-core fans and casual observers has been unusually spirited. Unfortunately, the conversation has not been about the New York Yankees trading for Juan Soto or the Los Angeles Dodgers signing Shohei Ohtani. Instead, people cannot stop talking about the league’s new uniforms, specifically the pants, which leave little to the imagination. “Buying my wife Fanatics baseball pants instead of lingerie,” read an X post with more than 33,000 likes. “Whenever I’m nervous public speaking I just pretend people in the audience are wearing Fanatics baseball pants,” another person joked.

The app, called Apple Sports, does one thing well: show sports scores from all the major teams and leagues. Apple services chief Eddy Cue said the company designed the app to be fast and simple for multiple quick checks per day. This new app, which won't come pre-installed on iPhones, is tightly integrated with Apple's other Services apps, such as the TV app and News app. It works for sports Apple carries, as well as games on streaming services that are connected to the Apple TV app, many of which still require a cable subscription but will increasingly be available from over-the-top streamers. Apple will also have features that will allow users to follow college basketball's March Madness tournament in the app, Cue said.

Donald Trump’s filing to the Supreme Court over his claim for sweeping presidential immunity begins with a quote from Yogi Berra. The coming days could decide when the first Trump trial takes placeThe text of Trump’s filing to the court at times feels somewhat frivolous. Trump’s legal team has a good reason to try to run out the clock. But it is not certain that the Supreme Court, which last week heard oral arguments on another Trump case — over his expulsion from Colorado’s ballot — will even agree to take his latest request. As with Smith’s Washington case, Trump’s team is seeking to delay the trial currently scheduled for May.

In 2023, the average NFL ticket climbed 8.6% to $120, according to Team Marketing Report, a sports market research company. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the Super Bowl, is the third smallest NFL stadium. The closing of the upper deck in Oakland helped the Athletics raise ticket prices during the early 2000s, for example. Five of the most recent seven NFL stadiums have seating for 71,000 or less.
