DENVER, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Two Colorado police officers were charged on Monday with leaving a handcuffed woman in a patrol car parked on railroad tracks, where it was struck by a freight train, seriously injuring her. The woman was charged with felony menacing over an alleged road-rage incident that led to her arrest in a traffic stop, the Weld County District Attorney's Office said in a statement. Officers from multiple agencies responded to the incident, and Rios-Gonzalez was stopped, handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle that was parked straddling the train tracks, police said. Rios-Gonzalez suffered nine broken ribs, a broken arm and leg, broken teeth and other injuries, said her lawyer, Paul Wilkinson. Wilkinson said he was told last week that Rios-Gonzalez would be charged, which he called disappointing.

She said the investigation was shut down just three months after Fret's death by order of Olga Castellón, who was the chief prosecutor at the Puerto Rico Justice Department at the time. Italian researchers are adding propulsion engines to a small humanoid robot. The engines will allow the robot to fly like Iron Man. The iCub, as the robot is called, could help in natural disasters. The robot will have systems in its palms that allow it to control power and direction, much like the Marvel superhero Iron Man. The ability to fly will allow iCub to do both these things.

It could be used for further research into nature or even to prevent fires. The claws allow the robot to carry objects and also to land and perch on a wide range of surfaces. With a heat sensor, for example, the robot was able to provide valuable data for studying the weather in Oregon. It could therefore be used to monitor fires and potentially help to carry out search and rescue missions. "If we could have a robot that could act like a bird, that could unlock completely new ways of studying the environment," he went on.
