NEW YORK — President Joe Biden met with Vietnamese President To Lam for talks on Wednesday, aiming to deepen relations with the Southeast Asian country and manufacturing hub and counter its ties with China and Russia. Biden and Lam, the ruling Communist Party chief making his first visit to the U.S. as president, met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On meeting Biden on Wednesday, Lam hailed what he called Biden’s historic contribution to elevating bilateral relations. The Vietnam News Agency reported Lam told Biden that Vietnam was on the brink of a new era of development, and that it was a friend and reliable partner. “Vietnam will continue to firmly implement its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism and diversification,” Lam told Biden, the state media agency reported.

Netflix is producing a docuseries from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson about charges of sex trafficking and racketeering as well as sexual assault and violent abuse allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and Stapleton said in an exclusive statement to Variety. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. At the time, 50 Cent shared a clip on X that showed Bad Boy Records rapper Mark Curry alleging that Combs would spike bottles of champagne at his parties before women drank from them. Proceeds from the documentary, the rapper-producer said, will be used to support sexual assault victims.

It is building 43 new hotel units and 18 residential homes over 40 acres — all with a 3D printer. It is the world’s first 3D-printed hotel, says El Cosmico owner Liz Lambert and the partners behind the project — Austin, Texas-based 3D printing company ICON and architects Bjarke Ingels Group. The “ink” of this 3D printer is a special cement-based material called Lavacrete, a proprietary mixture designed for strength, affordable scale, and printability. In the long term, 3D-printed construction could displace some skilled laboring jobs, said Milad Bazli, a science and technology lecturer at Charles Darwin University in Australia. The hotel units will range between $200 and $450 per night.

U.S. District Judge Edward Chen in San Francisco on Tuesday sided with several advocacy groups, finding the current practice of adding fluoride to drinking water supplies to fight cavities presented unreasonable risks for children’s developing brains. But the judge stressed he was not concluding with certainty that fluoridated water endangered public health. The agency had denied their so-called citizen’s petition asking it to consider banning fluoridation chemicals from public drinking water. More than 200 million Americans, or about 75% of the population, currently have fluoride added to their drinking water at recommended levels of 0.7 milligrams of fluoride per liter of water. The U.S. practice differs from Europe, where fluoridated drinking water is rare.

Incoming President Subianto has promised to continue the charge toward making Indonesia a high-income economy. Indrawati hopes to avoid "the middle-income trap" — an economic development situation where growing economies stagnate at middle-income levels and are unable to advance to the ranks of high-income countries. In a court hearing on Tuesday, a Texas bankruptcy judge announced that he will approve the auctioning off of Infowars' parent company, Free Speech Systems, which Jones fully owns, according to The Associated Press. The auction is a result of Jones agreeing in June to liquidate his assets after both he and Free Speech Systems filed separately for bankruptcy in 2022. Advertisement"It's very cut and dry that the assets of Free Speech Systems, the website, the equipment, the shopping cart, all that, can be sold," Jones said. The bankruptcy trustee overseeing Jones' assets said in court this week that some potential buyers have already expressed interest in getting a piece of Free Speech Systems, NPR reported.

Love it, hate it or wished it stayed under wraps, the secret on coffee badging is out, and not everyone is a fan. Some have faced repercussions: 70% of workers said they've been caught coffee badging by their bosses, and 16% are now required to be in the office for the full day. "There shouldn't be a negative connotation to coffee badging," says Frank Weishaupt, CEO of Owl Labs, who says he does it too. Being strategic about in-office time means "you're meeting with your colleagues, you're mentoring employees, you're being mentored or you're doing other collaboration activities," he says. Coffee badging, on the other hand, can boost productivity, he says, by inspiring teams to audit their calendars and be intentional about their in-person collaboration versus independent work time.

CNN —A New Mexico judge on Thursday is set to consider the “Rust” movie armorer’s motion to be released from prison, months after similar charges against actor Alec Baldwin were dismissed due to prosecutorial misconduct. At her trial, prosecutors argued she repeatedly violated safety protocol and was negligent in performing her duties, allowing six live rounds on to the set. Her defense attorney argued she was scapegoated for the safety failures of film set management and other crew members. But just days after his trial began, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer threw out the charges and ruled prosecutors did not properly turn over evidence to the defense. The judge called the withholding of evidence “intentional and deliberate” and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought again.

Southwest announced in July it would move away from the open seating model it has been known for throughout its 53-year history. It also announced it would offer premium seating for the first time. Part of the reason Southwest isn’t rolling out its assigned seating model sooner is that premium seating will take some time to reconfigure in the planes. It did not give details for when the premium seating with more legroom between seats would be available.
